Great Phone, With One Major Pain Point

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked up my Galaxy S25 Ultra in late 2025. Coming from a normal S23, the switch between the two was the least wowing of any move from phone to phone I've ever had. It's not a bad thing, it's just that phone development is nowadays more centered on refinement than revolution. The S25 Ultra is certainly a refined phone. Despite not using a case for around 5 months, I've yet to scratch the screen, or the back of the phone. The chassis does have a couple scuffs from sharp metal, so those can be forgiven. What's less forgivable, however, is some of the Galaxy AI integration. I like circle to search, or audio eraser, but I haven't needed them outside of once or twice. Galaxy AI has made itself known with the camera. The hardware for the cameras is great. The AI "enhancement" of photos, on the other hand, is by far my biggest gripe with this phone. Any photo you take has an AI filter laid on it that messes with the color grading and the sharpness of any photo you take. I paint cars for iRacing. If I'm recreating a car from real life, I need to reference far-away photos for small logos. This filter smooths those small details, making reading small text sometimes impossible. This can't even be fixed by using Samsung's own Expert RAW app to take RAW photos. Those get the filter too. It's a very specific-to-me issue, but an issue nonetheless. The S25 Ultra has many good features, like the S-Pen and its quick note-taking, but I've run out of space for them. It is worth the money.
