Took what was already great and made it better

This is my 3rd Presto pressure canner. I have a "regular" stovetop canner that I got when we got married 35+ years ago that is still going strong. I have the original version of the Presto Precise that was released a few years ago. And now this second generation of the Presto Precise.
All are solid canners. In truth, I hardly ever use my stovetop one anymore, though I keep it just in case I end up needing to do a huge batch. The digital canners are that big of an upgrade.
This latest Presto Precise takes what I thought was already pretty awesome and makes it better. I really like the larger capacity and it is actually lighter to carry around empty. The ability to water bath quarts is wonderful (tho I usually use a steam canner for water bath recipes, it's good to have this if I have a large batch to process). And it looks great and the digital controls preserve the ease of the original version. I do like the way this one closes, I think it is superior to the green latch of the first generation. Highly recommended. This newest "Precise" will become my main canner now,

Thank yo for your review. We appreciate your insight!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First thing...not a fan of the permanent cord. The length is good, but I appreciate that the 12Q and 17Q cords can be taken off and stored in canner when not in use. However, I understand the design decision by Presto to remove a failure point. Also, not sure how I feel about the gap between the pot and the control panel. I don't forsee any issues, but I can imagine something falling between that. Canner weight with 3q of water (no jars) was just over 16lbs. Filled jars / canner and started Warming step. Water was just over 100°f when this step started. Took 30 minutes for the warming step. Jars out, filled with apple juice that was ~190°f. 7Q (full load). Jars back in, water in canner was 182°f. Filled to 1in over jars with water from kettle that was 195°f. Took 27 minutes for the canner to get to full boiling temp. Processed for 10 minutes. Canner timer matched my timer for this step. It took another 45 seconds or so for the lid lock to drop once the 5 minute cool down started. This canner really likes to spit water out of the lid lock and regulator spout! Enough so that having a towel right next to it is a good idea. May not be as bad when doing pints/HP/QP since the water level will be lower. Canner weight after removing jars (before dumping water) was just over 25lbs. Also, as others have mentioned, this canner gets HOT! Don't touch the aluminum sides or lid after processing! It took ~20 minutes to be able to put my hand to the side of the pot without leaving skin behind. Overall thoughts for using this for water bath canning: happy that it can be used for this, however, the overall process is certainly slower than getting my big stock pot out and processing on my stove. I like to be efficient in the kitchen, though, so for those that may move a bit slower or their kitchen gets hot this canner is a great alternative.

We really appreciate your insight and the time you took to review the canner. Thank you. We will share your concerns with our Design and Quality teams. Just a note, the interlock (where the water is spitting) needs to be tightened each time you use the canner. This will help eliminate the 'spitting' issue and assure proper pressure.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I currently own two 12 quart Presto electric canners. When I purchased the second one. I knew that I should’ve bought a bigger one, but I did not. Well, I received a 23 quart and needless to say I am more than excited. I have never water baths in my other two. I only pressure canned. So when I got this, I decided to run it through a water bath cycle first. Was very pleased with the outcome. Easy to work just like always. And then I did 16 pints of tomato soup. Wet smoothly as expected. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking to buy an electric canner. Go ahead and go for the big boy. If you own the 12 quart, you will very well know that it is heavy. To my surprise, this one is a whole lot lighter. Easier to work as far as the lid goes. Everything else is pretty much the same as far as the controls. This machine does get extremely hot on the outside so as you should know, be careful. I definitely will be putting this one to work every weekend for the next few weeks. Thank you, Presto! This is amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My canning history started with a 16 and 23 qt Presto stovetop canner, followed by the Presto Precise Digital canner in the 12 qt, and finally the 17 qt. I was in my glory with these wonderful canners.
Presto has done it again with the new 23 qt Presto Precise digital canner. They’ve merged the best of both the stovetop and the digital canner to create the perfect canner.
I love that it is so much lighter than the 17 qt, and accommodates so many more jars.
I just received my new 23 qt Digital Pressure Canner. I finished my water test a few minutes ago. The beeps our much louder than the 12 qt Digital Pressure Canner and that is an wonderful improvement. This canner has the longer cord but doesn't come off the canner. I only got 8 reg. mouth pints in the canner, I wasn't sure if the jars should touch. Will try again to get in the 10 jars the quick start guide states it will hold. One of things I noticed it is louder when the water is boiling during the water bath canning process and the jars are much hotter coming out when filling with food. My husband said "you won't forget you are canning with the water boiling like that". Next to water bath up a large amount of peaches that just came in. Happy Canning everyone! A concern is adding raw pack meat to the hot jars when doing the pressure canning part. I really like the lid as it reminds me of my stove top canner and is easy to put on and take off. I would I recommend this canner.
I received this canner last week, and it is a BEAUTIFUL machine!! It works amazing!! This thing is the grand puba of digital canners to say the least! If you've got veggies coming out your ears from your garden, then this canner is most definitely for you! Let me tell you my honest review of pros and cons of this product.
*Note: I tested this machine by pressure canning 20 regular mouth pints of green beans*. I'll say that again - I was able to pack this thing with TWENTY PINTS of green beans! When have we ever been able to do that with a digital canner? Never before! But it's possible now!
Pros:
-Quantity: The sheer amount of jars you can can at once. 7 quarts, or 20 pints! That's a crazy amount compared to before with the other canners.
-Weight: This thing weighs almost NOTHING compared to the others. It's so lightweight. No dragging heavy equipment around. It's amazing just on that note!
-The gasket: The gasket is amazing and stays in place. It's SUPER simple to install on the lid. Nothing floating or moving around anymore, and no extra pieces! It fits snuggly right inside the lid - same as the Presto traditional stove top pressure canner (which I also love by the way).
-The lid: The lid locks firmly into place - super easy peasy :)
-The weight/regulator: It's great - NO snapping it into place. Just throw that baby on, and hit the forward button. I love it!
-Depressurizing: Because it's basically a traditional style pot, it depressurizes FASTER than the other digital canners. Which intern means, MORE production in your kitchen, and who doesn't want that? :)
Cons:
-The plug in: The plug in isn't removable.
-Clean-up: It's a little harder because the pot isn't removable like the others. However, all I did was put it on my counter, pour some soapy water in the bottom, scrub it out, and then rinse it the same way. Not horrible - just wanted to put that out there.
Overall, this gets a 5 out of 5 review for me because I do canning on a fairly large scale, and I despise doing multiple batches. I will 100 percent be purchasing another canner in about a week or so because I love it so much. So if you are questioning whether you should buy it, the answer is obviously "Yes"!
I love this product. The price was a little off putting but well worth it. The digital canners are game changers. I have only used it once but will be using it multiple times this week. I am able to run one canner instead of two and frees up counter space.
