[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My only complaint is for the price you would think they could find a way to keep the inside nice and shiny like first out of the box. Other than that I'm loving it.

It is normal for the inside of the canner to discolor. This discoloration, which is not harmful, is a result of the various minerals in your water interacting with the aluminum of the canner. To minimize this discoloration, add 1 teaspoon cream of tarter or 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to the water in the canner each time you use it. Enjoy your canner!

Best of both products!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own all the digital models and I also own all sizes of the stove top models of Presto Pressure Canners.
I have owned the Presto Precise Digital for over 5 years and absolutely love them. However, the 5 quart capacity is a bit under what I typically need. When the new 16 quart Model, 10-30225 came out I was excited to give it a try!
What is most desirable about this new model is that it holds 7 quarts and 8 or 10 pints, (wide or regular) and is smaller in physical size than the original Presto Precise.
The new 16-quart, like it's Stove top companion can Waterbath can as well as Pressure can. The Digital display is quite easy to follow and the Quickstsrt Guide ensures an error free result.
After a test run of water, I canned Fresh Beans. I used the Ball Book recipe for Hot Packed beans.
I ran both Digital units side by side to make a comparison. I did notice there is a 3 quart mark inside the canner for the fill line. I had read others said they didn't see one. There is a 3 quart fill line.
The warm cycle in the 16 quart was a bit longer, however, to be fair there were more jars. It held the temperature well as I fill individual jars.
I found that the unit cycled nicely and I didn't have any error codes.
I prefer the longer cord as it gives me more flexibility in where I can can. I also appreciate how little steam and humidity is created in my kitchen. (A big bonus in summertime canning).
The one main difference is that there isn't a separate pot inside the canner as there is in the other Digital models. The big benefit is that you can safely add vinegar or cream of tartar to prevent hard water stains without the potential for the coating to flake off as it had on some of the older digital models.
The 16 Quart digital cannot be submerged in water and there for a bit more "clumsy" to clean than those with a removable pot. However, it's easy enough to clean and dry.
The one thing I did notice was that the pressure relief valve did not drop at the same time as the canner signalled "done". I waited about 30 to 45 minutes for it to drop. I didn't notice that canning the water. But, it dropped as designed.
The lid of the new 16 digital goes on exactly the same as the stove top. The arrows are clearly marked and that works nicely.
I did notice that when using the Waterbath setting, it is necessary to remove the pressure relief valve. That can be a step that could be accidently overlooked or the valve might be lost in the shuffle of a canning project.
That said, overall, I give this a "5" star rating because, it is much nicer canning using a digital canner because the canner automatically cycles and reduces the potential for hundreds error. And, because the 16 quart is smaller in size than its other digital counterpart, but holds more jars, it is, in my opinion a better value. It is the best of both products, I am looking forward to many years of canning with it!

Easy Peasy!

I've been a lifelong user of Presto stovetop canners and when I stumbled upon the 12 quart PPDC, I knew I had to get one! I love the ease of use! When the 17 quart PPDC came out, I knew I had to have it! Canning larger capacities is wonderful!
And then...the new 23 quart hybrid came out...yes, I "needed" it!
I love how light it is for its size (lighter than the original PPDCs).
I love that the lid and canner body are designed as traditional stovetop canners (no more worrying that I'm going to break the green latch).
To me, the biggest improvement with this design is the fact the sealing ring stays put when in use! No fiddling with it to assure it's seated properly, throughout the process!
The canning rack is solid and doesn't have rubber "feet" to worry about losing.
I was concerned this canner would heat up the kitchen, but it doesn't! Beware: the outside does get hot.
The jar warming stage does seem to take a bit longer, but it's no big deal, as it gives me plenty of time to prep!
The canner also runs as quietly as the original PPDCs!
Cooldown period is significantly shorter than the originals, as well, allowing for me to run multiple loads if I need to.
The only CON for me is: there is no "fill line" that I can see or feel. Having to measure 3 quarts is easy enough to get used to...I was spoiled by the fill lines in the originals.
I would recommend this to a friend!

23 quart Presto Precise digital canner

Presto Precise digital canner 23 quart review. This is actually my 5th Presto product. I have a Presto Nomad travel slow cooker (love it) and also have a stovetop Presto canner, a 12 qt Presto Precise, a 17 qt Presto Precise and now the 23 qt. Presto Precise digital canner. Love all my Presto products!
So, this is for the 23 qt. 1st, yesterday my neighbor and I canned 32 half pints of seedless blackberry jam. With this canner the hardest part was stirring that jam (NCHFP no pectin recipe) for an hour for each batch lol.
This canner requires 1100 watts of power, so less than the other digital canners which need about 1500. Which is good because less power usage is always a benefit.
I never had an issue with the removable power cords, however I like the power cord being attached.
This canner does not have the "water level line" bump inside like the others with removable pots and I do miss that. Reason being because it was easier to just fill back up to the line when doing multiple batches a day. However it is not a deal breaker.
Also, you can now do 5 minutes on the timer so if you have that recipe that only needs to process for 5 minutes now you can!
In addition, the rack no longer has the little rubber feet that others lost in the past. It is totally metal with metal bumps as "feet". So another improvement that Presto listened to customers about!
The seal and other parts are very easy to remove to clean and to put back in. When water bathing I just put the blow out plug and the regulator in a baggie or bowl to keep them from getting lost.
I would recommend this to a friend!

23-quart Digital Canner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 23-quart Presto Digital Pressure Canner is a stand-alone appliance which allows you to use your stovetop for other tasks. If you have a glass stovetop, this appliance is a great alternative.
These Presto Digital canners can be used for pressure canning and water bath canning. The instructions are easy to follow. Always thoroughly read the instruction booklet and the one-page user guide. There are some details in the booklet that are not noted in the one-page user guide.
When first using it, always do a practice run with water-filled jars to learn how the appliance works. Do not attempt to skip any steps in using these appliances. There are alerts that sound as the appliance moves through the canning process. This is beneficial, and there are some steps that require your attention.
Other features that are beneficial include a power cord permanently attached to the canner, a regulator weight that is easy to put on and remove for pressure canning, and when pressure canning the appliance automatically adjusts for your elevation. Note: for water bath canning, time must be added to adjust for elevation when setting the processing time.
Overall, this canner is a winner!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Presto Digital Pressure Canner quite literally saved our canning workshop. Upon arrival at the site in a rural area, we discovered all the stoves had been removed from the location and the small countertop portable burners were not conducive to canning.
Thankfully, I had brought along two earlier models of the Presto digital canner and two additional electric water bath canners. We were able to proceed and we successfully pressure canning and water bath canning a variety of foods.
Many of our workshop participants had never used a digital canner—or even a stovetop pressure canner—but they easily followed the clear, step-by-step instructions. Best of all, every single jar sealed.
Presto, Inc. has a long and respected history as a canning equipment manufacturer, and the brand is familiar to many of us in Extension food preservation. As a reviewer of the 23-quart Presto Digital Pressure Canner, I believe this innovation has the potential to bring a new generation into home canning.
This versatile device can safely process both low-acid foods (using pressure canning) and acidic or acidified foods (using the boiling water method). Compared to traditional models, the digital canner is quieter and keeps a kitchen noticeably cooler. The larger capacity of the 23-quart model is another advantage; it can hold up to 20 regular-mouth pints or 16 wide-mouth pints when jars are double-stacked, or up to 7 quarts.
Its built-in safety features and user-friendly design make it consumer-friendly to use. It handles altitude adjustments automatically and includes a digital display, clear instructions, and a helpful troubleshooting guide with explanations for each error code. It also provides both visual and auditory cues during the canning phases.
While the digital canner does represent a higher initial investment than traditional stovetop models, its convenience, safety, and ease of use may inspire more people—especially beginners—to start preserving food at home.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

I want to start off by saying I have four 12 qt PPDCs and the oldest one has been performing since 2020 with no issues. As a matter of fact, I have not had any issues with them whatsoever.
Once I saw the Presto 16 and 23 qt canners I was very, very excited.
I bought the 23 quart Digital Canner after receiving and using the 16 qt. Digital Canner. I loved the 16 qt. So much I had to buy the 23 qt.
I know some have complained about the fixed cord and that the canner does not have a removable pot like the 12 quart PPDCs. That does not bother me at all. The canner is not hard to clean at all even with the fixed cord, or the fact the canner does not have a removable pot. All I have to do is place the canner on its side near the sink and use my sprayer to clean and rinse it out.
What I really love about the 23 quart is:
I love the length of the cord, and the ease of operation it has like the 12 quart PPDCs.
Being able to stack pints and that it holds 7 quarts. I don’t have to pull out all four 12 qt PPDCs to can anymore. If I wanted to can 14 quarts of beans, I would have to use three of my 12 qt PPDCS placed all over my kitchen and now I only have to use my 16 and 23 qt canners.
The lid is just like my 23 qt stovetop canner and the seal is not silicone which means it won’t stretch when it is hot.
The pressure valve pops up during venting or before. (It does spit a little water out, but a paper towel below the canner catches any water that does spit out. My stovetop did the same thing.
I have canned meats for up to 90 minutes and the canner still cools down in an hour or less.
I canned boiled peanuts in quarts for 50 minutes and the canner cooled down after 45 minutes.
The only thing that I would caution about is how hot the aluminum sides of the canner get although it is not any different than a stovetop canner because the sides of those get hot too.
I cannot say enough good things about this canner.
I would recommend this to a friend!
