Sleek aesthetic and easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The soundbar is stunningly slim and the wireless functionality makes it incredibly easy to install - simply turning the sub and soundbar on allowed for immediate pairing, and our Samsung TV had zero issues finding and connecting to the setup right away. They operate together seamlessly, and the sound is clear and crisp. The sub is strong, and has a smaller imprint than my last setup, and the bluetooth functionality works quickly with my iPhone when necessary. My only gripes are minor -- when changing the sound settings, I wish the light bars would indicate the level that the setting is at, as opposed to scrolling past the display panel with each adjustment -- it's more difficult to know where in the scale you are operating relative to the min and max's. The woofer is also an exposed panel, which I wish was covered simply for aesthetic purposes. Also unfortunately for apple users, the incorporation of Samsung Smart Things app isn't as compatible or easy to use as I'd like, so I've decided not to utilize any of the features associated with app usage. Overall, our family is thrilled to have a beautiful new soundbar to replace our older one that did not work as seamlessly with our TV. Now that it's all in the Samsung family, it complements each other very well! No wires to run back through the walls, and while we typically preferred HDMI connection, we have found no latency or sound issues with any of the components. Very happy the wire-free option works well.

Slim Sound Bar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, the "Ultra-Slim Design" truly is ultra-slim. I haven't seen any soundbar this slim, ever. Aesthetically, it's a very nice design and looks really great under my 65" OLED. It's also lightweight. The Subwoofer also has a nice design and is heavy. It fits nicely anywhere you place it and is not ugly where you want to hide it behind furniture. I like how they did not cover the subwoofers with mesh.
With it being so slim, and mounted under my TV, I don't get the full effects of Dolby Atmos from the up-firing speakers. This is more of a placement issue on my end, but something to be aware of. Also, the control buttons are on top of the unit as well, so once mounted like I have, it's impossible to access the controls. I would say this design is more for placement on a table/entertainment stand, slightly in front of the TV, or above, which you can use the mounting brackets for or a universal soundbar attachment.
Sound-wise, the output is great. It is slightly quieter than my previous soundbar in the mid-range, but that's most likely attributed to how slim the main soundbar is. You would need more surface area on the speakers in order to push this range. That's basic physics. Dolby Atmos works as intended when placed ahead of the TV. The sound modes for SpaceFit, Adaptive, and Game Mode are also nice options. Especially the active voice amplifier, it's nice to be able to hear dialogue at normal volumes. Instead of cranking it up just to hear spoken words, and then being assaulted by sound effects and explosions later. IYKYK. I'm curious to see if Samsung has any add-ons for additional speakers as well.
I did sync it to my SmartThings App, but that was only because of my mounting situation. I need to be able to access settings and that was difficult to do with the top mounted controls I mentioned earlier. The app itself had all the options displayed nicely and even had options for updating the software on the Soundbar. They even had more equalizer settings if you truly wanted to adjust. I wish they had more default sound options to choose from though.
All in all, this is a great soundbar. It's solid and appears to be well built. It's the best compromise for design and quality among others I've used. It's truly plug and play, and setting up eArc was seamless. I would consider it one of the better home theater options you can get, before diving into separate components.

Great sound quality

Once it was paired, the sound quality was superb. Excellent sound with the ability to adjust the base.
I especially liked the 3.12ch Dolby Atmos which filled the whole room with crisp audio. The speakers in my tv and the sound bar worked together to operate as one. It was amazing watching a movie using the Samsung HW-S800D with the wireless Dolby Atmos, you could hear every word and it gave us a new listening experience in our own living room.
It has a modern, sleek design which blends well with my television. The subwoofer is not huge, so is fairly inconspicuous.
I would recommend this soundbar to friends and family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sound bar is super slim so it fits in the small space we have for one. Really happy that we could finally get a sound bar, and love the sound it puts out. It's like a movie theatre experience no matter what we're watching. Guests have commented on the sound quality and our kids love the way their movies sound now. Also, the set up for this sound bar took 5 minutes. Plug it in set it where you want it, and follow a few steps and you're ready, even if you don't have a Samsung TV. I'd definitley recommend.

Quality soundbar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife got this sound bar and I was skeptical at first because our last system (another brand) it was very hard to hear people talking you would have to turn up the volume just to be able to make out what they where saying. This soundbar does not have that problem and has many different settings so you can pick how you want the sound to be from gaming, theater, etc. This Samsung sound bar is also slim which makes it look great with our tv setup. Watching a movie is like being in a theater. We was so happy with this system that we decided to get another one for the bedroom tv, I would highly recommend this Samsung system to anyone who is looking to upgrade there sound system.

Amazing, cinematic experience at home

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so thoroughly impressed by this sound bar. Our household loves striving to create the best soundscapes and experiences we can, as we digest a LOT of media.
We selected the Samsung HW-S800D (3.1.2 channel setup) knowing that this best carries theater-like sound throughout the large room this lives in. What really sold us was the form factor AND usage of Dolby Atmos, which is largely why the 3.1.2 channel setup sounds as good as it does.
Setup was NOT as easy as expected (or as the instructions tried to convince us it was). The subwoofer did not automatically pair with the soundbar like the instructions alluded to, and I had to do the manual pairing process thrice to finally get them to pair. I believe the issue was that the soundbar was trying to download/install a software update after I got it set up on my wifi and in my Smart Things app. I say “I believe”, since there was no indication that this software update was being attempted until after each timeI rebooted the soundbar while following the instructions under troubleshooting the subwoofer.
I do like that the Smart Things app integration (and wifi integration for that matter) was optional. It added additional steps to my setup since I understand and appreciate the integrations it provides my household, but I love that it was not mandatory for the folks who may not care.
Overall, as frustrating as the setup was for a few moments, the sound quality is immaculate and worth the fuss ten times over.
