[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 80v string trimmer does a great job and the battery sustains well. After buying and using this product, I purchased the hedge trimmer/pole saw combo and I am equally satisfied.

Disappointed in this one
on March 22, 2026

The spool on this this thing is a nightmare. It's really difficult to get it off and back on which is really a problem because the bump feed feature doesn't work most of the time, so you'll need to stop every five minutes and take apart the head to re feed the line. This is worse than my cheap 15 year old Black & Dekker that is at the end of it's life. Really disappointed in this one. I have two other Greenworks tools that are great so I assumed this one would be also but I was wrong.

Hello Billy1894.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Getting familiar with the spool design and bump feed operation can make a big difference in day-to-day use of the MODEL# (2136602) string trimmer.
We would like to share some maintenance tips to help you with the issue you are experiencing.
1. Getting the Spool On and Off More Easily
Align before pressing: Make sure the spool tabs line up with the housing slots before pushing or twisting into place.
Clean the head: Grass buildup can make removal and installation harder wipe we recommend user wipe out debris regularly.
Check for proper seating: If the spool is not fully locked in, the bump feed will not engage consistently.
2. Improving Bump Feed Performance
Use firm, quick taps: Light taps may not advance the line, tap the head firmly on a hard surface while at full speed.
Avoid overfilling the spool: Too much line can cause binding and prevent smooth feeding.
Check line condition: Worn, brittle, or tangled line can interrupt feed replace if needed.
Keep line length even: Uneven winding can cause the spool to jam.
When the spool is wound evenly and installed correctly, and the head is kept clear of debris, the bump feed system should advance line more consistently. If the head continues to require frequent disassembly after these adjustments, it may be worth taking a closer look at the spool and cap fitment to ensure everything is functioning as intended. We hope this helped. If you would like, our support team would be happy to help review your setup and offer additional tips to help you get the most out of your string trimmer. Please reach out via chat on our website or call 1-888-909-6757, and we will be glad to assist. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Great start with my 3 PC Greenworks combo

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The combo is great!!!, congratulations for such great products...lower noise, no monoxide close to me, fast and easy. Next life, I will get the two 2 battery combo to keep doing the trimming and blowing after the moving. I took 1 hour to cool down the battery and 45 minutes to recharge and return to the yard. Also the first time I used selfpropelled and it only last 20 minutes the battery, this is not explained in the web site. The advertisement said 1/2 acre. Again you are doing great products but more guidance will be good

Poor design & workmanship on trimmer head.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Trimmer Head works well but only last a little over one season. Bump head is too soft, it wore right through. Want to order a replacement but it is never in stock. No good to me with out a new head.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Effective
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Trimmerman0159.
Thank you for the detailed feedback on the trimmer head. The bump head is a high-wear component, especially when edging or making frequent contact with hard surfaces, so lifespan can vary based on usage and setup.
To help improve durability and performance, a few key factors to check:
1. Line selection: Using the recommended line size (typically 0.080") is important. Heavier or reinforced line can place additional stress on the head and accelerate wear. Bulk spool line, when wound correctly, can also feed more smoothly than precut line.
2. Operation technique: Advancing the line by lightly tapping on grass, rather than concrete or asphalt, can significantly reduce wear on the bump knob. Keeping the head slightly above hard surfaces while edging also helps extend its life.
3. Wear patterns: If the line feeds unevenly, it can create imbalance and lead to premature head damage. Periodically opening the head to check for debris, melted plastic, or misalignment can prevent further issues.
Routine cleaning and re-spooling the line before it gets too short can also reduce internal friction and heat buildup, helping the head last longer over time.
For assistance locating a compatible replacement or confirming fitment, customer support can help provide part cross-references and additional guidance. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat Now” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent or by calling 1-888-909-6757.
