Very poor spool system

Spool system is almost unworkable, and pretty much impossible to reload. Very disappointing product from Greenworks.

Thank you for your feedback. We ae sorry to hear the spool system has been so frustrating to use. If the spool feels difficult or “unworkable,” a few adjustments can often make a big difference. First, confirm you are using the correct line diameter (typically .080" for many 80V models), as thicker or incompatible line can prevent proper feeding and make reloading much harder. When loading, make sure the line is fed evenly through both sides and wound tightly in the direction indicated on the head, loose or uneven winding is one of the most common causes of jams or poor performance. It is also important not to overfill the spool, as excess line can bind inside the housing. Before reinstalling, check that the spool cap, spring, and tabs are aligned correctly and that the housing is free of debris, since buildup can interfere with smooth operation.

The Greenworks trimmer was very easy to set up and a pleasure to use. Even though it’s professional size, it’s extremely well balanced and the shoulder strap is very comfortable. All new yard tools should be built like this!

Terrible trimmer, great mower and blower

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the mower, leaf blower and string trimmer last year. The mower is great, very powerful and easy to use. Run time is excellent and battery recharging is very quick. The blower is also very powerful and easy to use. I even used it during the winter to remove light snow. The string trimmer however is a horror show. It is heavy and difficult to use. Plenty of power but the string is constantly jamming, breaking and fails to feed properly.. I cannot go more than two or three minutes before I have to remove the head and rewind the string. I have owned several other brands of trimmers and none of them was as difficult to restring as this machine. I cannot recomend the trimmer bot the mower and blower are excellent.

We recommend ensuring the line is wound evenly and tightly in the correct direction indicated on the spool, overlapping or loose winding can prevent proper feed. Using the correct diameter line specified for the unit is also important, as thicker or lower-quality line can increase resistance and lead to jamming. Additionally, avoid overfilling the spool, as this can restrict movement and cause the line to bind. If the line is brittle or breaking frequently, soaking it in water for 12- 24 hours before use can improve flexibility and reduce snapping during operation. It may also help to tap the bump head firmly on a hard surface while running at full speed to advance the line properly, and periodically check the spool housing for debris that could interfere with smooth feeding.
