This is a great mid tier television....recently purchased for our bedroom and it was miles above our previous Samsung tv. Great for all aspects of entertainment as well....games look beautiful and HDR content is crisp and bright. This thing is packed with smart features as well....integrates well with SmartThings. Cant go wrong with Samsung!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Johnnybuck,

Thank you for sharing your experience with volume fluctuations. Please try the following which may help resolve this:

1. Turn off the Sound Sensor switch by using the button at the bottom of the TV, beneath the Samsung logo. With the TV on, you can push the button to the left to turn the sound sensor on or to the right to turn it off.
2. Try disabling some of the TV's intelligent functions, as these will automatically analyze and adjust your sound which may cause your volume to fluctuate. Go to Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings and select Intelligent Mode to turn off all the functions or select each option to turn it off.
3. Please also make sure your TV’s firmware is updated. You can check this by going to: Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.

I hope these tips help. If you need further assistance, please reach out to Samsung Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture is great, for TV, movies, and gaming. Sound is good but I wish the speakers had more volume and bass.

Alaskaguy007,

Thank you for sharing your experience with low volume. There are several volume features you can adjust, which may improve your audio experience.

1) Auto Volume automatically adjusts the sound to a certain level when changing channels or switching to another external input. Go to Settings > All Settings> Sound > Expert Settings > Auto Volume.
2) Adaptive Sound automatically adjusts to a specific volume level while watching TV. The TV analyzes your volume usage history by time period to automatically adjust the volume when you use an app or switch to an external input source. Go to Settings> All Settings> Sound> Sound Mode> Adaptive Sound.
3) Several Sound Modes are likewise available to meet your personal preferences: Home > Settings > All Settings> Sound > Sound Mode.

Also, some sources have their own volume control, which might need to be set higher. Please check the volume control of the external device (cable box or satellite box, DVD, Blu-ray, etc.) connected to your TV. Also, check the cable connection between an external device and the TV and then try the cable connection again.

If you need more help, Samsung is here for you! Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, seven days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Made the switch from Samsung Crystal UHD to Q8F. Love the quality of pictures from gaming, movies, watching tech videos and live sports. Apps are super responsive and sound is amazing!

Terrible rendering and contrast
on October 7, 2025

I have been so disappointed with this TV. I am glad that I purchased the VIP warranty. Had to replace the main panel twice already in less then a year. It still has a difficult time rendering dark shadows. Watching darker shows like Wednesday or Black Rabbit is nearly impossible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

jokersmith,

We appreciate your input on the picture quality of Samsung's Q80D TV. If the image you’re seeing doesn't meet your expectations, there are several adjustments you can make to the picture settings.

Go to Home > Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:

1. Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments
2. Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments
3. Eco: Provided to save energy
4. Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room
5. Filmmaker Mode: Provides source content just as the creators intended. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it’ll automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.

Intelligent Mode enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings > Intelligent Mode.

If adjusting image settings does not improve your picture, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:
• LiveChat with an agent

Excellent picture.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My previous Samsung TV I believe had a great picture. It was 7 years old and was on 16 plus hours a day. I had an accident plugging in a ambience USB led light which shorted out the TV.
My new TV's picture is stunning. The remote control is difficult to operate. It uses pictures instead of words explaining the function. I get confused and have difficulty getting out of the menu.
But I do love my television .

Awesome picture and great sound, Dolby atmos is amazing! I’ve had a 65 inch before what a huge difference Samsung is compared to my last TV. You can get away without a sound bar, I have. Samsung doubt bar with a subwoofer. Instant connect with the ARK HDMI connection. Samsung really is great!
I would recommend this to a friend!
