Workhorse printer

I was not aware this printer did not print in color. It was my mistake for not researching it better. However, it works for me day in and day out. I'm not sure what a new ink cartridge will cost.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does not connect to Wi-Fi

We have tried literally everything to get this printer to connect to our Wi-Fi. We've had it for a month and have tried multiple times and even had an IT person come in. It is completely unusable.

A PRINTER NOT A COPIER!!!!!

You get what you pay for, I guess. Beware, this will not copy except from your device so don't think you're going to slip your birth certificate in it and get copies!!! It seems to print well but the lack of copying is a pain in the neck so I'm back to taking photos from my iphone and sending to printer. Should have done more research and that's on me.

Money Trap, Beware!

This printer allows for 1200 refills and 3000 page refills. It also has a drum unit that is rated for 12,000 prints before it needs to be replaced! What? Not just toner cartridges, but drum unit just to print toner needs to be replaced. What kind of diabolical engineering caper this machine is Batman! Why it's a money trap Boy Wonder! Be Forewarned! The product is constantly getting jammed. I saw this in none of the literature.

The toner cartridge and drum unit are different consumables. They are used in the Brother machine, and the machine requires both consumables.
What is the toner cartridge?
The toner cartridge contains powder (toner) used for creating letters and images.
You need to replace the toner cartridge when the toner is running short or print quality becomes poor because of toner deterioration.
What is the drum unit?
The drum unit transfers the toner to the paper.The laser printer puts the toner on the roller called "The photosensitive drum" inside the drum unit, and then prints letters and images by fixing toner to the paper by heat and pressure.
To keep good print quality, the Brother machine detects the quality deterioration of the drum unit automatically. If the Brother machine displays "Replace drum" error message, you need to replace the drum unit.
If the toner runs out or the toner cartridge/drum unit comes to the end of its life, separate the toner cartridge and drum unit and replace the unusable consumable only.

Brother Laser Printer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I received this printer a few weeks back and I have been using it ever since. The compact size is perfect for desk placement.. It is a little bit heavy, but it will be staying in one spot anyway. Installing the toner cartridge is simple, and instructions are straightforward. I had a few problems trying to connect wirelessly without a cord, but I was able to resolve the issue quickly. I had a USB cord of my own that I connected from my laptop to the printer, and then it was able to communicate and finish set up. After removing the cord, everything has worked seamlessly. With past printers I have always had issues with the wireless set up, but with this Brother printer it was a breeze. Although this is a very basic laser printer, it is very fast, printing things in under 10 seconds. Love the speed! There are no hesitations like I have had in the past with previous printers. The duplex printing feature is also wonderful; especially for those of us who like to be green. I was a little disappointed with the quality when printing images, but anything with text only was just fine. My suggestions for improvement would be to add a copy option, and to include a USB cord. Overall, this is a nice compact printer for a home-based business or small office.
