Not worth the money, doesn’t keep coffee hot

I received this a a gift, the carafe doesn’t keep coffee hot. The first cup brewed is great but even with preheating the carafe as recommended the longest it lasts is 1 1/2 hrs. and at that, the second cup is only warm not hot. The carafe is heavy, so getting the last of the coffee out of the pot is very cumbersome. Oxo doesn’t offer water filters or gold filters as accessories which to me should be an option.To say the least, I am super disappointed in this product, and I have a lot of oxo products that I am super pleased with but not this coffee maker. Don’t waste your money.

Makes good coffee but price and difficulty finding correctly sized filters

I wanted a good quality coffee maker with a thermal carafe to keep coffee warm for hours but not cook it like a traditional drip coffee maker with a heated plate and this coffee maker does just that. On the plus side this carafe keeps coffee piping hot for hours.
Other than that though, there is little about this machine that warrants the 300 dollar price tag. Thermal carafe drip coffee makers can be had for half or even a third of the price of this with a lot more features so I naively assumed that this was going to be built like a tank. The water container on the back is glass so thats nice and there are some brushed metal parts. But there's also a whole lot of black plastic so basically it's not that different than less expensive machines in terms of build quality.
And there there is the filter issue. Unlike with cone filters which have numbers that are easy to understand (#4 being the most common), finding these "commercial size" coffee filters at a regular grocery store is next to impossible. And if you do find them online, it turns out there are actually a variety of "commercial size" basket filters, many of which are way too small for this maker and the coffee grounds overflow and make a complete mess in the basket. You'd think a 300 dollar coffee maker would at least come with a reusable gold mesh basket. Or at least clear instructions on exactly what filters it uses.

Amazing coffee!! But one Suggestion?!?!

So this thing is great. Makes amazing coffee!!!! , is programmable which is huge for me for being an early riser, and makes a big carafe when we entertain. The only thing, and really the only thing would be a wish for a side display like your 9 cup coffee maker. Im not sure if it was a design limitation or what not, but I think most keep there coffee maker horizontal position not vertical under cabinets, so we can see the display. But that’s really it. Even if the display/button position is a problem for those looking at this coffee maker it is definitely still worth the purchase. Thank you OXO!

Good basic design and good hot coffee

The simple design, electronics and fittings on this machine are very nice, everything from the brew basket to the water fill hole (huge), the snug lid on the nicely weighted carafe, plus everything comes apart so easily for cleaning. Just really nice after having a spilling/leaking Cuisinart pot for years. The carafe keeps the coffee smokin' hot for hours and the it tastes exactly how I expect a well brewed cup to taste. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Great, with some design flaws

I'm very happy with this coffee maker, but there are a few annoying design flaws. First, the positive things. I was only looking at machines that brew both a carafe and right into the mug, and it does both of these features very well. It's extremely intuitive and easy to use. Great set ahead feature. And it makes a great cup of coffee. It's also very sleek and attractive on the counter. There are a few very annoying design flows. 1) The carafe. You can't fit your hand inside to clean, so you need to have a round brush to clean inside. The design also means that liquid gets caught in the lip, so you have to turn it all the way upside down to get the last section of liquid, which is both messy and inconvenient. While the thermal design keeps coffee nice and hot, there's no clear window or indicator of how much is left. It would be helpful to have a way to know what's left in the carafe without needing to open it up and look inside. 2) The water tank. I appreciate how clearly labeled it is. That said, there are some flaws here. The water tank can't be removed, and you can't fit your hand inside of it, so the only way to clean it is to descale the machine and let it air out. Further, since the machine uses all of the water in the tank to make every cup, if you add too much water, or decide you want to make a different amount, there is no way to to remove it. It's also a bit inconvenient to not be able to keep the tank full and just use the amount you need, but that's easy enough to get used to. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, but I strongly suggest these changes for the next re-make, as they would significantly improve the machine.

Grounds go everywhere

Coffee pot is not as expected for the price. Coffee grounds go all over when brewing. I followed the scoops per coffee amount. It is all over. Also the coffee pot spills when poured. I would add pictures but OXO will not allow it.

I was about to order this coffee maker as a back-up to our current, much loved, but discontinued, Cuisinart with a stainless steel carafe. This one as it ticks all the boxes--large capacity, stainless carafe, excellent reviews--when I realized they were kind enough to show the dimensions. I got out my ruler because we store our coffee maker in an appliance garage that is ---12 inches deep. :( My husband would have a fit that the door was cracked open all the time, and wouldn't love to shove it in sideways, so I'll have to hope OXO might redesign before our current coffee maker dies.
