This chainsaw was perfect for clean up after Hurricane Helene.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First I bought the mower, and then the weed trimmer. Not long after, hurricane Helene blew through leaving a trail of destruction. This chainsaw was the perfect tool for making quick work of this large Oak. It's been nice having no gas fumes.

Specific Application Use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this electric chainsaw for about 9 months now and have used to clear a woods to build a garage. I cut about 45 trees that ranged from 4" to 18" in diameter. Things that I love about this chainsaw is the light weight, great cutting capability, low noise level, not dealing with gas or spark plugs, challenge starting, hot engine after running long hours. The challenging items are the low battery life, long charge time (which to me is very important if you're doing a large job but not important if just clearing one or two trees that came down), tensioning system broke within a few hours (I had to purchase a replacement), and poor quality chain that only lasts a short period of time even when sharpening consistently. I purchased a second battery with the hopes of being able to cut while the other battery was charging. Unfortunately, the battery life while cutting is short and the charge time is long. I can clear the wood/cut faster than the charge time. If you're not in a rush, then this will work for you. I want to continue to keep cutting and not waste the entire day, so I find this purchase to be frustrating (low cutting time and chain tensioner being the biggest issue). I would purchase again but only for small cutting jobs, not large jobs.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Powerful

Hello PhilWisco

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sad to hear the chainsaw has not met your needs. Greenworks Pro 80V 18" Brushless Cordless Chainsaw can make up to 110 cuts through 4" x 4" pressure treated lumber. Regarding the cuts, the number of cuts per charge or run time that you receive would depend on the load acting on the saw (i.e., the thickness and type of wood being cut) as the chainsaw would use more battery power on tougher and thick objects being cut. Operator technique is also a factor and a chainsaw's tensioning system may break if the chain is not properly tensioned, or if the chain and bar are not the correct size for the saw
Please see unit specification below, for the chain.

Guide bar length: 20'' (508 mm)
Chain pitch: 0.325" (8.25 mm)
Chain gauge: .050" (1.27 mm)
Drive links: 78
Chain: 20LPX078X/95TXL078X
Guide bar: 200PXBK041/200MLBK0

Lubricating: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAGyv564RlA).

For a longer runtime, we suggest bringing a larger Ah battery or two if you are planning on taking trees out completely or maintaining larger properties. The only issues you may experience using a heavier battery is the added weight to the unit which may not be as comfortable to handle as a smaller battery.

We hope these tips and videos help and provides a better user experience with this tool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about a week ago. It has been a great tool for cutting the tree debris from Hurricane Milton. The unavailability of gas was no issue for me. This 80 volt, 18” chainsaw worked great. I will continue to buy Greenworks tools.

great saw for desert conservation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The company i used to work for, and many of our federal agency partners, use this saw in the Desert Southwest. When doing habitat conservation, having an electric saw has significant benefits over gas: reduced noise = less disturbance and greater safety among crew; less risk of spills/contamination when working in areas with sensitive species, and the opportunity to have a solar-powered system.
More importantly, with the crazy daily 30-40deg F temperature swings in the desert, electric saws avoid lots of downtime that tend to happen with gas saws.
Pros: Convenient, Quiet, Environmentally Safe, Powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall a solid tool. Cuts perfectly well. Fairly easy assemble. Not too heavy and easy to maneuver. Two areas for improvement. Throttle needs ability operate at a lower speed. Trigger can provide variable power, but there are circumstances where less power/chain speed would be safer that is not possible with this saw. Also wish the automatic oiler was adjustable. Does not put enough oil for my preference. But for the price, this was still a good buy considering I already had batteries from previous tool purchases. Oh, and this particular version came with THREE chains which was a nice bonus.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Effective, Powerful
