We purchased this 18" cordless electric chainsaw after using a 16" chainsaw and a 10" polesaw manufactured by Greenworks. Although the chainsaw we purchased is larger, it is every bit as quiet, efficient, and easy to handle as the two smaller electric saws. The need for a cordless power tool is pretty obvious, but switching from gas- to electric-power makes very good sense for working outdoors in the tinder-dry Western US: We don't want to be the ones who start a forest fire. Also, and most personally important to us, is the incredible power of this tool. We both have damaged our hands and wrists over the decades with tough outdoor work on farms, ranches, woodlands, and foreign wars. This chainsaw has all the power we need, without the bucking, kickback, or resistance of old-fashioned gas-powered chainsaws. Cutting logs is almost as easy as slicing bread with this saw. Love it!

My 80 volt chainsaw has cut enough wood to provide most of my heat for 2 years plus. I've also used it to create 8 to 10' x 6" & larger beams of oak & poplar. I bought the mower too for the larger battery, also the string trimmer & pole pruner. I've been happy with all tools & wouldn't consider trading them for gas. I love pushing a button & getting to work & storing them wherever I want.

Works great for maintaining the yard. Would be great if it came with it's own tool for tightening the chain and sharpening. Lightweight and easy to use. Had trouble at first because it came with a dead battery that wouldn't charge, but contacted custo.er service and they sent a replacement because it was under warranty. Definitely need a second battery if you plan on doing a lot of cuts and you are further away from a power source to recharge. This is where a gas saw is better

Cuts great . I haven’t used it enough to see how much it can cut before it needs a charge . Made quick work of brush pile of 2-4 inch branches . Best past don’t have to mess with a choke and pulling starter 30 times !

Having owned gas-powered chainsaws for the better part of five decades, I was skeptical of the capabilities of an electric saw. But thirty days of using this chainsaw have convinced me otherwise. I've found it to be a very capable tool for falling and bucking 60-foot ash trees. The cutting speed is impressive, as is the battery life, quietness, and simplicity of operation.

So far, so good. I haven't done a lot with it yet but the results so far are very good. Obviously, the electrics have no starting issues and there is no question about leaving it running or shutting it off. Performance with light to medium branch thickness has been very good. The unit is fairly light weight and easy to maneuver. Spare bars and chains are easy to find and bar oil use is reasonable. I am looking forward to more time with this product.

VERY low battery life, but works well when charged

The saw cuts well with a full battery and sharp chain. The advertised comparison to a 42cc gas saw is overstated, this saw doesn't have that kind of torque and easily overpowered if you're too aggressive. The battery drains quickly during medium-duty use, 12" dia softwood. You'll be lucky to fell, limb, and cut 8' lengths on one tree before the battery dies. Not a problem if you plan accordingly (haul or chip limbs, clean up, etc.) while the battery charges. As advertised, it charges fully in about 30 minutes. This is not a replacement for a gas saw unless you're only doing light-duty cleanup, but it's a great addition for that light-duty work.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe

Decent chainsaw but has some issues

Bought this a couple of months ago and have used it twice. It cuts well but is really heavy with the battery. My gas chainsaw is lighter, which shocked me. It also leaks oil like crazy. It just runs out the cap and also I think it puts too much out for the chain. It also throws the chain constantly. I don't know why but just cutting some branches off a downed tree it would pop off. It did that 3 times while I was trying to trim a bunch of small branches of a dead pine tree.
Pros: Quiet, Powerful
