So far, so good. I haven't done a lot with it yet but the results so far are very good. Obviously, the electrics have no starting issues and there is no question about leaving it running or shutting it off. Performance with light to medium branch thickness has been very good. The unit is fairly light weight and easy to maneuver. Spare bars and chains are easy to find and bar oil use is reasonable. I am looking forward to more time with this product.
The Greenworks 80v chainsaw surpassed my expectations. It works like a hot knife through butter! I'm a 53 y/o female and was super excited to find out how easy this was to use, and how lightweight it is. I have the 80v mower and weed wacker, but this chainsaw is my new fave! All the products make yard work a lot easier, but the chainsaw has changed my storm cleanup. Thinking of tossing the axe thanks to this saw. I can now cut stuff up smaller to make it easier to haul, and it cuts my cleanup time in half. (Pun intended!) My property has mature trees on it and limbs fall throughout the year, so it's not something I dread doing anymore. Next up, LEAF BLOWER!
Excellent machine. Just needed to add some bar oil and away it went. Needed to tighten the bar after an hour of cutting. Suggest checking all the nuts before using. Was really nice starting the chain exactly when you need it. No more struggling to start. Always goes! Battery lasted longer than I expected. Used it all day cutting trail logs and brush from the trails, then got ambitious and cleared 40 ft of brush from the lakefront. Battery was still >50%. Should work great for many years to come. Would buy again!
The saw is powerful enough to cut larger logs and the battery lasts as long as a tank of gas does in a gas saw. Cut speed is very similar to a gas powered saw but much easier to use. Much less noise, no gas and oil to mix and no exhaust fumes to smell
Needed to get a new chainsaw but was tired of the same old problems encountered for years of trying to keep my gas saws (and other equipment) running. I had already purchased a Greenworks 80V blower and 80V Polesaw. Both have been outstanding in quality and consistently good performance, so there was no question when I went to purchase a new chainsaw. I hadn't had this saw too long before Hurricane Ida came to Florida, but this 80V 18" Chainsaw proved powerful enough to tackle clearing downed trees and limbs at both my son's and brother-in-law's homes as well as mine. Some of these trees were up to 20" inches in diameter. I'm totally sold on the Greenworks products.
Having owned gas-powered chainsaws for the better part of five decades, I was skeptical of the capabilities of an electric saw. But thirty days of using this chainsaw have convinced me otherwise. I've found it to be a very capable tool for falling and bucking 60-foot ash trees. The cutting speed is impressive, as is the battery life, quietness, and simplicity of operation.
I used this one day, and after following all chain tightening requirements, the chain still popped off and damaged the chain guide teeth so it won't work. Essentially, I have a very expensive replacement battery for my other tools. That was after trimming 3 trees with 2 inch limbs...maybe 4 dozen limbs.
