Cool set, love the three cockpits!

The LEGO ARC-170 Starfighter is an absolute gem for Star Wars fans! Its standout feature is the awesome triple cockpit design, which is both unique and incredibly fun to build. The set includes three detailed minifigures, adding to the excitement and playability. The opening wings mechanism is super smooth and makes it feel like a true starfighter in action. A must-have for collectors and builders alike!

It’s fun

I just recently purchased and built this set. It’s actually a cool and fun build. My only complaints about this set is the guns are too small (which is a personal thing for me) there’s a lot of stickers, and the price is a little high. What I like about this set is the mini figures look good, the build was fun and engaging, and despite the lackluster guns (that I’ll probably modify later) it looks pretty good. Definitely a fun build.

Great set, with huge flaws

The new ARC-170 is a solid build that, even as an adult, is fun to play with and swoosh around. The S-foil play function is satisfying, and I'm thrilled to see a new ARC-170 on shelves. However, the print and sticker quality is awful. The print quality of the 3x3 circular tiles on each smaller wing is awful. The advertised dark red is much closer to brown. The stickers are where the set truly goes wrong. The republic logos as well as the body stickers are fine, however, the three stickers on each of the canopies are entirely the wrong color. This would be disappointing, although minor if it were advertised as such on the box/promotional images, but it is not. The stickers are supposed to be white, but they are dark gray. I'm sure kids won't mind, however it's disappointing for older fans and collectors. I'm in the minority of fans who don't mind stickers overall, but these are truly awful and taint an otherwise good set.

I am a huge fan of the clone wars and the Arc-170 starfighter as a ship. I own both previous versions of the arc-170 LEGO has made in 2005 & 2010. For a 15 year gap between sets, I was hoping for a bit more of an improvement over previous models.
Pros:
-New minifigs are a nice upgrade (though dual molded legs for the price of this set would have just made sense)
-New wing opening mechanism is great, not having to use rubber bands is a huge plus
-Retains a lot of fun play features
-Very clean and sleek looking model
Cons:
-Cannon design on the end is way too undersized
-Stickers on the cockpits look really bad due to being a clear backed sticker on a dark translucent pieces, printed pieces would have gone a long way here
-Lots of stickers, and still missing a number of side cockpit details from previous models accurate to the source material
Overall this is a really solid model that is very nice, but after a 15 year wait, and another price hike from LEGO Star Wars, I was hoping for more.

Yikes!

I was so excited to get this set when it was revealed and the pictures looked amazing. Then I got it in hand... There is some serious false advertisement going on here with the quality of the stickers. The stickers suffer from the same opacity issue as Commander Fox, so be warned, the product on the front of the box does not look like the product you'll end up with in hand. Lego has lost all ability to properly print anything. How is it cheap knockoff brands have figured out how to print on their bricks?

Great play set, ignore the haters

While this set has its QC issues that LEGO *needs* to remedy, this play set is amazing with how it simplifies the starfighters design to suit better play. There is nothing wrong with how this set plays. and the wing mechanism is really really well designed

A good set soured by false advertising

I have been collecting Lego Star wars since 2008. I own the 2010 ARC-170. I think in many ways, this model is an improvement, with sleeker lines, an improved wing mechanism, and a full complement of pilots.

However, it is baffling to me how Lego can no longer print in white, when they were perfectly capable of doing so when they previously made this ship in 2010.
The stickers for the canopies are abysmal. No two ways about about it. These were printed in 2010, and were matched very well with the white bricks. Lego hasn't printed like that in half a decade. But that's fine, these are stickers now, right? If only. The stickers are transparent with a white print on top of them. Once applied to the transparent canopy, these become a depressingly mismatched shade of grey.
Adding insult to injury, they lie to you about it. The astute observer might have already noticed the box art and online images appear to have the pristine white canopy stickers. This is sorely mismatched with reality. You can see the reality if you move over to the image with the child holding the fighter, but you have to go there looking for it. Not only is the best not good enough, they'll lie to you and try to make you think it still is.
3 stars for a pleasing build and wonderful figures. -1 star for bad printing and stickers. -1 more fore lying about it.
