Love the speakers totally satisfied wife hates them because of their size and at high volume debris from the ceiling ( drop ) falls every where . Speakers are paired with marantz 7705 , emotiva xpa 7 , rf 64 iii center , 502s surronds , 5800c hts driven by emotiva a500 base x .
Pros: Attractive, Fills large room effortless, Good Audio, They really crank crystal clear aggressive volum
I've had these for over a year now. I have them inverted (There's a 125" screen that drops between them). I'm always tinkering so excuse the mess, and yes it's a barn, my wife won't let me play in the house. The bass extension is by no means perfect, 1 SVS PB2000 compliments them nicely and is mandatory for movies. I enjoy them most at moderate volumes with the Denon running them flat for music and crossed over at 40 for music and 80 for movies. There really is nothing that can deliver detailed highs and the soundstage they develop. Do not short change yourself on not needing a quality amp. My Denon 6300 is no slouch at 140w, but bi amping a Sunfire Theater Grand...WOW... My Brother sold me with his Carver TFM-45 and I went a notch higher. Speaking of that test, we did a head to head in his place with his Prestige 95Fs and even he reluctantly agreed the RF-7s are the better sounding speaker...especially when unleashed. There was a little something missing in the mids with the Klips, but the detail and the soundstage missing in the 95Fs more than compensated for it. Add 9 little brothers to them for sound will put all but the best movie theaters to shame. I live in the country which is about the only place you can really let these speakers play to their potential, then again you're hearing won't last too long either.
I have these hooked to my new Onkyo TX-NR676 and the sound is incredible, almost any music sounds like the musicians are in the room, especially if you listen to something where the singers voice is out front, you can hear them breath in while singing...just awesome.
What great speakers! I probably can't say enough great things about these speakers but I will try: - They sound incredible at all volumes. I mostly listen to rock and roll on vinyl, CD, and Bluetooth through my CD player (Oppo 205). I am pushing them with a MAC6700 at 200 watts per channel RMS. They also serve as right and left main channels in my surround sound. - They are super efficient, but have handled any amount of power I have thrown at them. I can't imagine even needing more power, but I am sure they could handle it. If you had a 35 watt tube amp these would sound great and still get loud thanks to their efficiency. Even at ear bleeding volumes they sound clear, too (I put in ear plugs and verified this!) When I turn the volume up in the living room, the sound fills the lower level of my house with clear music. - At low volume, the clarity is amazing. Things that used to sound like whispers on tracks are clear voices (like at the end of Sublime's "What I got" and on multiple Pink Floyd recordings). - Great bass! With my old system (now in the basement) I was running two Klipsch KSW10 subwoofers. Those subs sounded great, but they weren't needed with these speakers. The bass seems to be sensitive to speaker placement - probably because of the rear port. But I spent a little time and found the sweet spot for my room (I don't see this as a negative, all speaker placements should be room and speaker specific). In my room they liked a little distance to the back wall - at about 18 inches the bass really filled my room. No subs needed! - They look great - I usually keep the grills on because I have them around the TV, and having the copper woofers exposed is actually distracting. Having the all black fronts make them disappear when you are watching TV in a dark room. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.
I'm a proud owner of these speakers for 3 weeks, they're massive, awesome, the tractrix horn doesn't seem to experience any stress at high volume and certainly they deliver more than I expected! I totally recommend this product!
