Poor experience

The headphones have some of the best technology in the industry and are accompanied with an excellently designed user-friendly application. Unfortunately, the right side stopped working in a year and even after repairs it developed static noise when on ANC and transparency modes. There seems to be a critical design flaw that harms longevity of the device.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great sound

I bought the Sony WH-1000XM5 4 months ago. The sound is incredible but not just that, the mic quality is extremely good that I can be on the phone with a friend, with these headphones on, walking through a very noisy street in the city and the person on the phone has no idea. It’s how good the mic is. People can hear me perfectly and I can hear them perfectly when on a call using these headphones.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Sony WH1000-XM5 have a flimsy, delicate build with easily broken hinges. Case is bulky making it difficult to transport. Take the XM4 or XM6.

Awesome audio

I've had my XM5's nearly a year now. I love them, but have turned some of the features off as they are annoying.
What I love is the sound quality and noise reduction. They are also super comfortable. Battery life has never let me down on commutes.
I've tried all the features. SoundConnect app can get confusing so I try not to use it.
What bugs me the most is the Adaptive Sound Control. When enabled it arbrtrarily changes modes resulting in disruptions in playback and unwanted sound (ambient sound playback in-ear).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Disappointing

I initially had very high hopes for the WH-1000XM5 after reading countless positive reviews. My first impression was great — the sound quality and active noise cancellation (ANC) were impressive, and it felt like a premium product.
However, my second time using the headphones — on a flight — was a major letdown. The right ear cup started producing an intermittent buzzing sound, which became worse with any movement of my head. Tilting my head to the left seemed to temporarily stop it, but the buzzing would always return shortly after.
For a pair of headphones at this price point and reputation, this issue is very disappointing, especially when the problem surfaced so early in its use. I expected more consistent performance, particularly during air travel — a key use case for noise-cancelling headphones.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am very impressed with the WH-1000XM5 headphones.
Charge lasts for ages only negative is you can't charge them while you are using them but they are very quick to charge on the upside.
Very good sound quality you can wear them for a very long time without getting sore ears. I love the way you can take mobile calls while using them.
Every bit worth the money.
