The best

These are simply the best. I bought the Bose NC 700 first, and I was so unimpressed with them. The Sony has so much range, depth, functionality, and the sound is so much better and louder, including the bass. Unlike the bose, they don’t flutter on public transport everytime the bus goes over a bump. And these don’t feel like you’re underwater when nothing is playing. Windy conditions are also a breeze with these! For the extra $ these really do kick it.

Noise cancellin

Great sound noise cancelling expected better my son has the same head phones and noise cancelling cancelling cut out most voices but mine not that good for voices tried everything I can find on YouTube

Good:
- active noise cancelling does its job;
- when on battery sound quality is good;
- when wearing glasses, passive insulation is ok with it (not perfect, of course, and not for thick temples);
- overall comfortable, though active noise cancelling could become uncomfortable for ear after some time of continuous wearing;
- could be somewhat flattened and fit backpack, have case as well;
- active noise cancelling does its job;
- when on battery sound quality is good;
- when wearing glasses, passive insulation is ok with it (not perfect, of course, and not for thick temples);
- overall comfortable, though active noise cancelling could become uncomfortable for ear after some time of continuous wearing;
- could be somewhat flattened and fit backpack, have case as well;
Not good:
- terrible sound when on AUX cable without post-processing, meaning could not be really used without charged battery;
- if connected via cable cannot enable the said post-processing, need to disconnect first, then power on;
- Bluetooth does not connect when headphones are plugged via cable, makes it difficult to use phone app;
- it is not possible to really disable touch buttons, they still continue to produce sound when touched;
- surface is fingerprints magnet, not that obvious but still not eye pleasing (I have black coloured version);
- AUX cable is a bit lacking, also - very subjectively and to me personally - angled cable is inconvenient.

My family has many sets of Sony headphones. The XM5 are fantastic. To be honest I do prefer my Wh1000XM4. They have a little more functionality and fit better on my head, but the XM5’s are excellent headphones

I had read a lot of reviews before I bought the product. It is as good as most reviews say! It may be a bit difficult to understand the App if you are not technical but it isn’t rocket science either. Lovely product. But don’t try the headset controls if you are wearing a beanie!! :)
