Great quality, fidelity

Switched from Bose to Sony (WH-1000XM2) some years ago because of durability of Bose faux leather on headband and earpieces. Sony has performed much better in that regard and thought sound quality and noise cancelling superior. XM5 huge step up from XM2 automatic noise cancellation fabulous.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great sound & NC

Upgraded from my trusty XM3's which got me through working from home next to a building site during lockdown's. The XM5's are a clear step up in both sound quality and noise cancelling, with added benefit of being able to connect to two devices at once for seamless switching.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Almost perfect

Bought this for Christmas, replacing the XM3. Better sound, unbelievable ANC. But alas it doesn't fold and the case is kind of big. Hence 4 stars only. If it could fold it would be the perfect pair of wireless headphones. I would still not hesitate to recommend them to any looking for a solid pair of wireless headphones. Please sony make the next pair folding.

High quality shortcomings

Some aspects are excellent - the app, tracking where you are and auto adjusting, Alexa. Comfortable. However does not seem to connect with two devices simultaneously. Need app to change between paired devices.

good 4 music, bad 4 vids

I bought this thinking it was the best of the best, especially compared to my previous Bose headphones.
It is great at playing music and sounds excellent. However, when watching videos such as YouTube, movies, shows etc., the audio is not good at all, and the dialogue is muffled while sound effects are too loud. It sounds like the mixing of channels is wrong.
This is not an issue with my laptop / phone etc, as videos sound perfect on other headphones. Please fix this with a software update, as it really sucks given these are meant to be one of the very best headphones. I want to enjoy my movie/show-watching sessions with good audio!

I bought this a month ago to replace my AirPods Pro. The sound and noise cancelling have impressed. Where they haven't impressed quite so much is:
- They are connectable to a maximum of two devices meaning I need to manually swap between MacBook, iPhone and iPad;
- They don't work quite as well for phonically;
- They don't seem to have the intuitively and user functionality that the AirPods do in relation to Siri;
- There is an auto off, but no auto on;
Nothing negative about the equipment itself, but still undecided as to how they stack up comparatively.
