I`ve always used a gas mower, but after reading about the advantages of a battery operated one I decided to look into them. I read lots and lots of reviews and decided on the Greenworks label. The limited 4 yr. warranty, so much quieter than any gas mower, 2 batteries, twin blades, and on sale!
My first venture into the world of electric / battery powered garden machinery and I have to say I am impressed. As life long user of a ride on gas mower when we had a big garden I was a little unsure. We now have a smaller grass area approximately 1000sqft. This mower eats it up! I have only charged the battery once, on initial receipt of the mower and have cut the grass 4 times - the battery meter has not moved off full. The blade is sharp and the grass collection box works well. Very happy and a convertee to Greenworks, so much so I went back online and purchased a trimmer!!
Easy to set up and to charge. Excited about low maintenance and saving on gas/oil. I went with the 60V as opposed to something less because I wanted something with a bit more power. Not as powerful as I was hoping for, but enough to get the job done. The system for raising/lowering the deck height is genius and super convenient.
I have 2 blades. One has chips in it, I use it to much the thickest stuff. I have another good one for finish mowing. The self propelled is super strong. The turbo option is awesome. Rugged. put a big trash can on top by the back of the battery door, lay it down on the handles...instant powered wheel barrow. Pure insanity. Love the side discharge option for 3 mowing options
I've been very pleased with this mower so far (have only mowed 3x). First mow was very early spring, and grass was high, bagged it. Next mow, lowered deck a bit (LOVE the lever to lower the entire mower vs. each wheel independently) and it did great. Both first mows I had to recharge batteries before I could finish, however I mowed for 1.5hrs (estimate). Going down hill, I didn't use assist - uphill I did full throttle. Third mow I did the entire yard (~.5 acres of grass) and did not need to recharge. Mower was easy to put together, and have been extremely impressed, AND as added bonus: I don't smell like gas (mixed with grass/pollen).
I absolutely love this lawnmower! It is so easy to use. You just pop in the battery and go. No more pulling strings or dealing with gas or oil or fuel filters or spark plugs. I will never use a gas mower again.
I am coming from two 190cc gas mowers. This mower cuts our whole 7000sq ft lawn on one 4ah battery and never shut off once due to thick wet grass that would have killed our gas mowers every 10ft. Cut quality was great and bagged better than any mower I've used. Only complaint is the dual charger fan is loud and doesn't shut off after fully charging so you have to unplug when charged.
Would love to be able to mow my front lawn in one day

I have a moderately-sized yard. I can’t even mow my whole front or back lawn on both batteries. I keep the assist off and at the level 3 setting. The company is giving me the run-around about trying to replace these default batteries.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Alacy,
It is unfortunate to hear that the run time is unsatisfactory. The run time of a lawnmower is dependent on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching, using self-propelled function etc. - there are so many factors to consider. The run-time of a battery would depend on the load acting on the unit while in use (speed, terrain, unit height, grass height, and density). Please be aware that the more power being used from the lawn mower (i.e. lawn mower speed, terrain, grass height, density, etc.), the faster the battery charge will drain. Here are a few tips to help you extend the run time. 1) Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 of the total length at a time. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass and ensure that grass is dry. Lastly, when the battery is placed in the charger the charger detects the temperature of the battery and will begin charging once it cools down slightly to charge. This is normal operation based on the protection system in the charger. All is operating as intended. We hope these tips will help you with the issue you have encountered.
