I have an average size neighborhood yard. Does not even use up 1 battery in the 45 minutes it takes to finish. I run it with just one battery in it, so it is relatively light weight when I push it without using the self-propelled feature.
First of all, when I saw this mower in person it was much bigger and beefier than it appeared in pictures! The seat is extremely comfortable, and the steering wheel placement is convenient and out of the way when you get on and off the mower. I love the little cargo bed in back! Fantastic for hauling fertilizer, seed, or plants. I also love the exposed tubing all the way around the mower that makes it easy to tie it down to a trailer for transport. Also, the 2-in receiver in front lets you use this mower to move around a small trailer, or boat! It is so incredibly easy to use, that it makes mowing the lawn actually fun! Love the removable batteries system, and the three dual Port chargers! I mow two yards, and after I'm done with the second one I still have an indicated 83% charge. To think that I'll never have to put gas in it, change the oil, replace a belt, for worry about whether it will start after sitting through the off season, absolutely justifies this purchase. I had to think for quite a while to come up with anything I would change. One minor thing that's not really a problem is, I would rather have a heel toe or two pedal forward and reverse system as opposed to the switch. It's no problem though. If you're thinking about an electric Rider with a good amount of cut, this is the one. I've done all the research for you. You don't want one with lead acid batteries! This has lithium ion batteries just like the electric cars on the road today.
The benefits of battery powered equipment is pretty obvious. This mower is self propelled so going up hill is easy. It cuts well, I haven't had to sharpen the blade yet. In addition to mowing grass, I have used it to maintain trails around my house. I had previously built the trails in the woods, but little stuff regrows every year. It can cut regrowing short saplings on very uneven ground. I set the blade up high and away we go. Changing the height of the wheels is very easy and completed at one point instead of each wheel. This mower is much tougher than I had expected
We have used it a couple of times on some fairly tall and very wet grass. Overall it did well considering. Mower isn’t any lighter than a gas mower of similar capabilities but more quiet . I wish someone would come out with a self propelled mower with a reverse gear. That would really help when mowing over the edge of a hillside. Battery life is good but a second set of batteries is better if you have a larger area to mow
I felt like a child on Christmas when the package was delivered. Fast and easy set up. Minor setback with the sleeve in the wheel bearing misaligned. I just used a rubber mallet to pound the sucker in place. I'm not a dummy who sends a perfectly good working mower back and giving a one star review for such a tiny malfunction. Easy to operate and cuts perfectly. Best investment I've made so far.
After one year, mine has issue with propelled system. Not sure why yet. Hope it will be simple fix. Nothing last forever but one year is too quick i guess. I used to have Honda (gas) and its propelled had issue too after 4 years

The batteries are massive but only hold a charge for 20 minutes. Poor to bad handling when using self drive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello freetibet,
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. This unit dual-port auto switchover lawn mower provides up to 60-minutes of uninterrupted runtime when used with two 5.0 Ah batteries. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life, here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time. 1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. 2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. 3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily. 4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. 5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please submit an email using the customer contact page on our website or give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
