Overall, 3-stars might be a little harsh but I couldn't bring myself to go higher. Made the switch from a gas powered Honda to this and I do love the reduced noise and never needing gas. It rolls very easily and the drive propulsion is quick (maybe a little too quick) and has plenty of power.
A couple of areas that could use improvement: The cutting & mulching performance leaves a lot to be desired.. it leaves clumps of grass in its wake and long blades of grass sitting on top of the lawn as though they were pulled up instead of cut. Could be the the two small 13" blades for the 25" model? In hindsight, I probably should have gone with the 22" and used the mulching blade like my Honda had, but unfortunately there is no option to exchange and no small mulching blades available for the 25" deck. With a small corner lot, bagging my clippings isn't an option since I have no where to put them... is what it is. There's also this weird delay using the self-propelled feature where the wheel seem to stay engaged for a second or so after you let go of the lever so you end up dragging it because the wheels are locked unless you remember to disengage it a couple feet before the end of your run. Small nuisances. I'm a little disappointed but overall pleased with it, just not thrilled.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Environmentally Safe, Powerful

Hello Ryan85, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! Greenworks designed this with a brushless motor that is based off our 60V platform. This means more power and longer run times. One cool aspect to this mower is the Smart Cut load-sensing Technology which means it is not always running full speed. If the mower senses a thicker part of the lawn or needs more power, automatically senses load & ramps from 2800-3200 RPM, when more power is needed. This not only helps the mower get through tough conditions, but also helps save on battery and provides a longer run time. Running a lawnmower at less than full throttle can cause its blades to run at a lower speed than is necessary to make a complete cut. Lawnmowers are designed to run at full throttle when their mowing blades are engaged. Anything less than full throttle results in poor cutting, which includes those annoying streaks of grass left behind with each pass. Hopefully this information will assist in a more enjoyable user experience. I recently took delivery of the newly-released Greenworks 54" MaximusZ Zero Turn mower. It replaced my 48" commercial walk behind mower, which cut very well but was becoming cumbersome to use. I can say with confidence the MaximusZ surpasses the cut quality of my previous mower and my lawn has never looked better. The power is amazing, especially with 4 blade speeds. While 3 drive speeds are available, I always cut on the middle speed. I am easily able to cut 1.5 to 2 acres on a single charge with the blade speed at 2 or 3.
The quality of the mower is amazing. It is definitely commercial grade with all components very heavy duty and an extremely solid feel. With about 15 hours of use I have experienced zero issues. Charge time from completely drained to full is approx. 3.5 hours.
I highly recommend the MaximusZ and anxiously await the release of a bagger option and powered attachments.
I've had one of these for almost 8 years and it's still amazing. I'm a harsh critic, I just love these products. I also have the 60 volt weed Wacker and it is equally amazing. I've tried other brands and they don't stack up at all. My other brand of tools is Makita, which are still going after almost 17 yrs, green works is equally as good. I hive 👍👍👍👍
I have had this mower for two complete mowings of my yard.
My Garmin watch says I walked 2.8 miles in doing that mowing yesterday. The two 4 Amp-Hour batteries did the job. The first battery expired, but the second battery was still on its last bar.
I have a 2.5 amp-hour and 3 amp-hour battery. Last week, I started off with those two batteries while the two 4 amp-hour batteries charged. The two smaller batteries did not make it. But the 4 AH batteries had charged up by the end of the wee batteries. No problem.
Overall the mower works just fine. Grass goes to the bag well enough. The sound still requires me to protect my ears, but nothing like gasoline engines.
Two things could be improved. One, the variable speed switch is hard to control when bouncing across the bumpy lawn. Three times I have had it jump to higher speed on its own. The range of the lawn mower speed is not so great that it is a danger. I think the switch could use notches so that it can be changed more accurately and won’t change on its own.
Second, the wheel base is so long that it is hard to mow along the fence lines. I find myself pulling it back out as it tends to want to dive into the fence. Something in the rear wheel drive makes it hard to pull it back. It is as if you drop it out of drive mode, the rear wheels stay in engaged but not driving.
Solid well built mower. Really love the ease of the electric start feature as well as one lever height adjustment. Great for mulching. Very quiet and the self propelled motor is very impressive. I have a 60v 5aH for a Greenworks leaf blower and its battery fully supports the mower. So done with gas powered engines as well as the noise and mess. BTW the folding handle is an awesome space saving feature that allows the mower to be stored upright and ease of cleaning.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Would be perfect with better charge life. I was able to mow 1/5 acre on my first charge. Love the mower otherwise, fun ride with good turning radius. The rapid charger is quick. I feel if the mower came with 4 of the 8ah batteries the mowing time would be much closer to my expectations.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The most amazing and fun lawn mower I've ever owned. Took me a few hours learn how to drive it. Worth every penny. Just waiting on accessories at this point that attached to the front ports.
