I bought this model to replace a Stihl ms-211 gas chainsaw. The power is equal to the gas chainsaw. I am very happy. I got about 18 cuts on a 14 inch fir tree before I needed to recharge the battery. The battery was ready to use again in about 30 minutes. I love the quiet.
This chainsaw is awesome, it has lots of power and the battery lasts for quite a while. I have a few batteries so it's easy swap out and keep working. As a homeowner that only uses a chainsaw a few times a year, it's great to not have to worry about the carb getting gummed up from sitting too long and gas/oil mixture going bad.
Using this saw for a week. Used gas saw for many years; this is my first time with a battery operated saw. Read hundreds of reviews and expert advice about this tool before purchasing. Thought the battery operated a good idea, but wanted to make sure I selected one to meet my needs. So, 1) Safety - This would be true for any electric saw, but the chain only moves when you're engaged in cutting. No fooling with restarts. So I was able to constantly move brush or move wood or whatever between cuts so that I was in a safe, balanced position to make cuts. 2) Battery life - Some reviews I read listed this as an issue, but I could cut for a half hour or 45 minutes on one charge. Between stacking brush and piling up wood I could work for an hour or so before returning to the house to recharge battery. I didn't time the recharge, but it couldn't have been much more than 15 or 20 minutes. I was busy with other chores during that time. 3) Power - I cut some pretty large mesquite with no issues. I only stalled one time over the weekend so that seems pretty satisfactory to me. 4) Function - I didn't find the saw much different than handling my 18" Husqvarna. Not terribly heavy and pretty well balanced. I read about leaks chain oil leaks, but I didn't experience that. Some reviews also referred to the chain jumping off. That only happened once for me. 5) Reliability - Started every time. There are an awful lot of plastic parts and that concerns me some - how those parts hold out over the long haul. The starter switch next to the trigger seems like it will get a lot of wear and I worry about it's durability. I like that the nuts on the chain cover are attached to the cover so you don't worry about losing them. Overall the saw performed as expected. Cutting wood so much more enjoyable (and safer) not having to wrestle with restarting gas saw and cut in relative peaceful quiet. If a fella planned on cutting for a full day at a time he might invest in another battery or one of those larger batteries.
Plenty of power, I cut up 3 medium sized blow downs,1 charge of the battery. Seems to cut better on hardwoods than soft. Unless you're a professional I dont see needing anything more than this
Purchased this unit after doing research on battery operated units. Wanted a unit with low operating costs, not dealing with the hassle of always needing fresh gas to avoid carb malfunctions, power equivalent to a gas driven unit, and a reasonably environmentally friendly unit. Chose the 80V over the 40 V due to bar length and higher power. Set up went quickly and easy. Battery charged per spec. Largest log cut 24" dia. Got 100 +/- cuts of various dia. before needing a recharge. Purchased unit in June of 2018. not wanting to give it the evil eye, but it has performed far beyond expectations. A great buy. Only downside is trying to find replacement chains locally. Plenty of Oregon blades but this particular model is akin to "hens teeth".
This chainsaw is great to have around the house, especially when you have a lot of trees like I do. Only used it for about a total of 10 hours with very little trouble (chain wasn't tight enough and would pop off) . The battery life with the 2ah seems to last 45-60 minutes but by that time your arms get tired. I do have the 4ah battery also, I just don't use it with the chainsaw because of the weight. This was my first purchase of a Greenworks tool and I was so pleased that I got the 26" hedge trimmer and 580cfm blower.
Just bought a second 80V Greenworks chainsaw over Christmas. I now have 2 of them. I really like these chainsaw especially up in the bucket of the cherry picker trimming trees when I don't have to pull the robe within a tight space. Got to love the torque.
I have used this for almost 1 year.Felled some large Eucs and a few smaller oaks. I have 3 batteries and keep charging while sawing.Use lots of thin bar oil ! Buy some spare chains, spare bar and the trick sharpener file .Use a depth gauge for the rackers/depth. A big advantage seldom mentioned is the very low noise level. It won't annoy your neighbors but fr more important if you are felling - you can hear the tree start to crack and bail .With a gas chainsaw ,the falling tree can be an unannounced surprise ! I also use a huge kinetic recovery rope to ensure the tree falls in the right direction. A huge Jameson slingshot on an 8 ft pole is another useful tool.
