Hello dr swice,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the challenge you have experienced. Generally, Chainsaw chains come off the bar due to worn-out bars, worn-out sprockets, and wrongly set tension. Please keep in mind that new chains tend to stretch; so be sure to check the chain tension frequently and tension as required. We would like to hear more of what you are experiencing, please reach out to our team directly at 1-888-909-6757 or by sending an email to info@greenworkstools.com. We ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
I've had to replace chain 3 times and am giving up. The chain gets nicked very easy on hard Oak , causing it to no longer fit in the grooves of the chain bar. I've also had to replace the chain bar as it is easily damaged

I bought this saw last year and used it a handful of times. I like the saw a lot but the only thing I didn't like is that the chain kept coming off. I'm just going to tighten it a little more every time I use it to see if that solves the problem.
I've been using chainsaws for over 30 years and made the switch to battery powered 5 years ago. I actually own two Greenworks chainsaws, the 40v and the 80v. Both are awesome. I grab the 80v when I need the power to cut down the big trees, and I'm talking about 20" diameter plus hardwood trees. No more fumes, and no more sore arms trying to get a saw started!
The battery lasts and the ease of use makes it superior to our gas powered chainsaw. This chainsaw starts right up and cuts well. It uses minimal bar and chain oil.
