I had GreenworkPRO 18" 60V saw for only 3 months when the chain got nicked and I needed to get a new one. It took me several days to find out that I can buy it only inline, and about two hours to get to talk to somebody. I ordered 2 replacement chains, but when I got them - the chain didn't feet the grooves on the bar and was visibly shorter than the original one. It took me another 2 hours to get to talk to somebody again, and it turned out that the original chain on my Greenwork chainsaw is Oregon, and I was suggested to look someplace else for the replacement. And returning the chains is a hassle. Customer service is of a very little help, one can never got through calling

I purchased this saw a year ago, but did not use it until recently. It looks like a nicely engineered saw. If only it worked as good as it looks. The chain has come off 4 times in the first 2 uses. The first time I attributed it to being a new saw and the chain breaking in. Unfortunately, it continued to do this despite proper tightening (and torquing of the fasteners). I have 4 other professional level saws and know how to properly tension the chain. I have no similar problems with these saws. All other aspects of this saw appear to be excellent if only the chain would stay on. I am hoping that Greenworks has an engineering solution and anxiously await their comments on this issue. Right now the saw is very frustrating to use.
2/5/23: I used the saw again yesterday and the chain once again came off. Other than that, the rest of the saw seems excellent. I am thinking that the problem is the thin bar and chain that they provide. I am hoping to hear something soon from Greenworks about a solution.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Quiet, Environmentally Safe

Hello ericjimdor,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced an issue with the chain not staying on. New chains tend to stretch; so be sure to check the chain tension frequently and tension as required. However, be sure to never tension a warm chain before storing as chains shrink when cooling and this can damage the chain, bar and saw. Please ensure that when you remove the side cover, the chain wheel is secured to the shaft. If the chain wheel is not secured this could be causing issues with the chain staying. If the chain is secured the issue would be the tension procedure. If you're still experiencing issues, please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like to hear more of your experience and provide an instructional guide to help you navigate the tension on your chainsaw.
Pros: 1. Power 2. Quiet 3. Under 4" diameter cutting is great Cons: 1. Battery life is terrible 2. Over 4" diameter, Cutting is progressively worse with each inch 3. Oil leaks all over the place, even when stored flat (40v never leaked in bag) 4. Need tool to tighten bar and no on-board tool storage (40v was tool-less)
Let me start by saying I have a lot of 40 volt tools from Greenworks: string trimmer, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, lawn mower, etc. I have a 2 acre property with lots of old oaks, beeches & maples that need maintenance and cutting up when they fall. I bought this chainsaw to replace my 40v 16" chainsaw from GW which stopped working after 5 yrs of moderate use. Most of this review pertains to the difference b/n the two. I thought the 80v would be an upgrade and since I just purchased the 80v leaf blower (also not impressed), I had another battery to use. My first use with the new saw 6 months ago was to cut up a 20' long 12" thick oak log. The saw cut ferociously to start, but after 5-6 inches, the blade bent and started tracking a curve, thereby causing the chain to continually bind. Additionally the 2.5ah battery only lasted for 2 1/2 cuts through this log - about 8 min of cutting. I have used the saw many times since and the bar bending is a constant nuisance. If cutting trees/branches thinner than 4-5 inches, then it is not a problem. The 40v saw I replace handled these same tasks much much better. It definitely has less power, but was way more dependable and cut for a lot longer. In my opinion, this saw is not worth having around unless you are cutting really tiny logs in which case there are much cheaper and lighter options out there. I would have bought another saw if I didn't already have the battery and I regret not purchasing that one instead. I have seen my neighbor use his and it works much better.
Pros: Quiet, Powerful

So far, so good. I haven't done a lot with it yet but the results so far are very good. Obviously, the electrics have no starting issues and there is no question about leaving it running or shutting it off. Performance with light to medium branch thickness has been very good. The unit is fairly light weight and easy to maneuver. Spare bars and chains are easy to find and bar oil use is reasonable. I am looking forward to more time with this product.
The Greenworks 80v chainsaw surpassed my expectations. It works like a hot knife through butter! I'm a 53 y/o female and was super excited to find out how easy this was to use, and how lightweight it is. I have the 80v mower and weed wacker, but this chainsaw is my new fave! All the products make yard work a lot easier, but the chainsaw has changed my storm cleanup. Thinking of tossing the axe thanks to this saw. I can now cut stuff up smaller to make it easier to haul, and it cuts my cleanup time in half. (Pun intended!) My property has mature trees on it and limbs fall throughout the year, so it's not something I dread doing anymore. Next up, LEAF BLOWER!
Excellent machine. Just needed to add some bar oil and away it went. Needed to tighten the bar after an hour of cutting. Suggest checking all the nuts before using. Was really nice starting the chain exactly when you need it. No more struggling to start. Always goes! Battery lasted longer than I expected. Used it all day cutting trail logs and brush from the trails, then got ambitious and cleared 40 ft of brush from the lakefront. Battery was still >50%. Should work great for many years to come. Would buy again!
