As with all IOT devices, security was clearly an afterthought with this thermostat. Anyone in the world can access my thermostat if they guess my username or password. There's no option for 2FA, and no notification when a new device logs in. For those without an imagination, this is bad.
I wish my vendor had installed a regular thermostat. If I ever buy a Honeywell product again, it will NOT be Internet-connected.
4.5 really. Other than original one not working, this is a fine smart thermostat. I liked the Nest more that I had in my previous home only because of aesthetic reasons and the app for Honeywell starts up all jittery before allowing me to fingerprint my way into the app. Otherwise works well for what it's supposed to be used for.
A previous T6 Wi-Fi Thermostat that i had installed professionally with my brand new heating and AC unit didn’t even last 2 years before it had to be replaced. Glad it had a warranty. I will give the same unit another try and see what happens. If it goes bad then i’m finished with this product. I previously had a thermostat that was installed when i built my house in 2000 and lasted for 19 years and was still working just fine.
