We find it easier to control by the app. We like being able to control it remotely especially if we forget to adjust when we have left the house. It seems to be a couple of degrees off compared to the other thermometers and thermostats in the house. Overall we like the product.
The thermostat is not at all intuitive. It took me a long time to figure out how to program it. And many of the programming features are only available when using my phone and WiFi.
Solved all my temp control problems, plus, great web interface.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My Installer provided this thermostat saying if I used anything else they would always assume the problem was the thermostat. First it seems to have trouble with networks that use dual band steering. I reached out to Honeywell and the guy said reboot your router but couldn't tell me what it would solve. Way underfeatured compared to Nest and Ecobee. Try to find a remote sensor for this device in the US. Good luck. I suspect I can call my pro and buy it from home at some absurd markup. No way to set how long each hour the fan runs. No clear indication of when it is cooling vs. just running the fan. No indication of stage 1 vs. stage 2. The app works fine but is rather clunky by modern UI standards. It is what happens when engineering companies try to right consumer software.
