I initially didn't see a need for a wifi thermostat, but the geofencing feature works well for me. (Thermostat upstairs, so only my daughter is fenced and she keeps a pretty random schedule).
Other than that, I see the lot of potential for the technology, but the software really needs some work. I doubt there is active software development going on.
Some examples: On the Geofence, you can't specify which users are fenced to each device. Filter usage is based on calendar clock, not fan runtime.
In summary, it works, but needs development. In addition, I'm not sure the it's worth the "internet of things" risks. The functionality could be performed using bluetooth or WifI direct without the risk.
