Great Thermostat that is loaded with features. We had this unit professional installed, and it has been a great experience. I strongly suggest that you have a professional install this item. Before our install, I considered installing, as I have a background as a computer hardware and office equipment Tech, but after reading the install manual it was clear that it would not be wise. Every industry has their own language, and the HVAC industry is no different. At the end of the day, I'd rather invest in having a professional HVAC tech install this key component.
The T6 thermostat looks beautiful and certainly meets the basic needs of one desiring a programmable and smart thermostat. We recently upgraded our heat pump and received this thermostat as a replacement to our old Honeywell programmable thermostat. My main interest in these types of thermostats is to have the ability to track usage. Our former thermostat (~20 years old) displayed usage time at the touch of a button. I stumbled onto the fact that the T6 also tracks Runtime through the Resideo app. Unfortunately, it is not updated in real time like my former thermostat. The information is always 24+ hours old. Having this feature is better than nothing, I suppose, but not ideal.
It's a thermostat. Received the T6 with my new home. Came from having an Ecobee 3. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with the T6, the Ecobee is far superior.
Finally got these to work with the phone app for remote access. It took some doing, and the times have to be set 1-2 hours different from real time, depending on whether or not the DST is on or off. Found I had to delete all schedules on the thermostats themselves (I have 2 zones), then schedule on the app. But I have not been able to get the schedules to match the time shown on the thermostats, which show the correct time via wifi connection.
I don't understand the backward trend. Setting up the T6 is cumbersome. It requires intensive troubleshooting trial and error. New T6 kept trying to network connect with a HP printer, direct connect, it was a 2.4GHz net. It took a while for me to figure out the network issues. I had to connect my phone to a 2.4 net and eliminate jet direct, unplug the printer and finally I was able to connect the T6. It's funny that companies' think they are the only connected device in your home. The Resideo APP is nearly useless. You can change the temperature that's about it. You can't access the schedule, you can't access settings, and you can't access alerts. This a major step backwards from the Vision Pro 8000 series thermostats. The Vision Pro 8000 is the gold standard for our rental properties. You select the internet SSID, enter the password and your connected. No privacy settings, no joining Wifi on your phone, just a professional direct connection immediately. The Vision pro app (Honeywell total connect comfort) works on anything including a windows laptop from your office. You can access the T-stat SCHEDULE, ALERTS and SETTINGS from the Honeywell APP. Not so with the Resideo APP. This is my first and LAST T6 installation. Once the Vision Pro 8000 is discontinued, I will go with another brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
