It doesn’t have the basic function to heat and cool. The only modes are heat, cool or off. In spring & winter you want to be able to heat to 69 when it’s cold at night and cool to 73 when it gets hot during the day, without manually changing the Mode.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Installed with a new a/c. Previous one had color screen and was slightly easier to program. I suggest using the available app to do that because the touch screen options are tedious. Also lacks the humidity display that we'd grown used to having. However it's functional and works extremely well
