We travel south in the winter so having a pro smart is important to keep track of the temperature in our northern home

Not sure

Not sure which thermostat I am reviewing here. If it's the T6 with Zwave, I would not suggest buying it. Connectivity was a problem and the interface was not what i expected. The Zwave thermostats where replaced with the Honeywell Pro series and they work fantastic. Conectivity and interface are simple to set up and use.

Basic functions were inaccessible and complicated.

setup is too complicated. we, the user, were not authorized to enable auto heat/cool mode and scheduling. what's the point in having a programmable stat if you can't do automatic scheduling? Some functions are available only by cell phone; all functions should be easily available by the touchscreen. the stat does a lot of things which few people needs, but the most useful energy-efficient functions are hard to access and set up. our previous Honeywell programmable stats, without cell phone access, were better.

Truly Awful

Simply impossible to set up with the app. I've resigned myself to having to use this so called smart system maunally, which comopletely defeats the object. A complete waste of money.

How do you prevent short cycles?

With no deadband the unit can trigger a cycle in some instances for 30 seconds and then shut off because it is constantly looking to hold internal temp. The issue I have with that is more periodic cycling that puts wear on HVAC equipment. Just installed a new high efficiency furnace and no problems whatsoever thus far but I have noticed the cycling. I also have a 10 year-old, single stage, A/C unit and this behaviour overtime can lessen the life cycle of say a capacitor in that unit. Is there something I am missing here? How does Honeywell compensate for this in the design of the thermostat in question?
In addition, I have noticed the ambient internal temperature jumps back and forth 2 degrees Fahrenheit occasionally? Always 2 degrees up and never down (i.e. if I have it set at 72 target temp the thermostat reads 72 when it gets there and then internal ambient temp could jump to 74 for say 5 minutes and then hop down). Is this a cosmetic thing? Does it actually heat to above set temp and then toggle to ensure less cycling?

Nice but needs more features.

Nice thermostat for doing basic functions, but wish it did more automatically, e.g. set the temp and not worry about switching from heater to air conditioner to maintain it. And put a lock on it so that it can only be used remotely to prevent kids from changing the temperature.

The local weather forecast does not match at all with weather.com or WeatherBug. No idea where they are pulling weather from my zip code from
