I installed this thermostat several years ago, did the setup as per all the instructions. Yes you have to read everything and understand all the settings to get everything working correctly. I am a HVAC Contractor so I understand all the lingo involved in the setup. I have been all over the country and can connect via the app to my home and check/adjust temps anytime when needed. Great stat, with a ton of features!

Manual says wifi enable. Not so. Cannot find any info on when to change batteries. No low battery warning, I guess. Needs brighter background, all the time. Not what I have come to expect from Honeywell.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Same, please verify the complete model number of your thermostat located on the back of the faceplate, if the model number has a WF after the TH6320 then it is a Wi-Fi model. This model does not require batteries, it works with the C wire coming from your HVAC system and it is possible to adjust the screen idle brightness on this thermostat. Simple, Easy to Use and Highly Customizable

This was an upgrade included with my new central AC and Heat and it is working flawlessly. It is a Pro Device that requires a Honeywell Trained Professional to install and initially configure it so not really intended for a novice or home user to initialize. Many folks giving negative reviews likely installed it themselves or used a "Semi-Pro" without the training to do the job properly. You do need to understand the functions and options too such as Adaptive Recovery which you can turn on if you want the thermostat to learn how long it takes to get you home from your sleep or away temperatures to your awake and at home temperatures and then adapt to have your home at those temperatures by the set time instead of having you wait for the system to play catch-up. If you don't want that then you can turn it off which is clearly explained in the consumers user booklet.
My installer disabled Automatic Changeover from AC to Heat however a Free Chat Session with Honeywell/Resideo walked me through the Service Technicians Menu to make that option available. Great scheduling options, automatically pushed out firmware/software updates, option to have a GeoFence to automatically set the thermostat to your away temperature when your not home (which is great for those who's schedule varies), 6 pages of configurable options listed in the tech manual to customize it make for a great thermostat that can be configured for just about any need. With that high level of customization you do need someone well versed in how to set up those options correctly.
You do need compatible security on your 2.4 g WiFi and a current operating system on your mobile device in order for all the features to work correctly however its not reasonable to expect them to support all features on all legacy devices especially those with obsolete technology/security.

Bad app

I’ve had this device for around 2 years and everything was great. I’m a retired union electrician and have installed many of your control devices. You changed your app and now I have a non “smart device”. This device was not cheap but now it is no different than a cheap stat. So what are your plans for a fix? Maybe go back to app that worked.

First off, I am a HVAC tech, and company owner. I have had 2 of these in my home for several years now. I got them at a Honeywell release party. Years ago when they were new, I had several connectivity problems, but for the last several years they have functioned very well. I don't understand some of the reviews, it seems that people don't know what they bought, or are just stupid.The wi-fi connection process is a bit complicated, but Honeywell does recommend professional instillation...so...
I am not a fan of Honeywell by any means, however my thermostats work as they should! They have some nice features for the price.

I just want a programmable thermostat. I don't want to have to download an app so I can control it when I'm not there. I also thought it was ridiculous to have o code on the back, then have to add 1234 to it in order to be able to connect my phone

Like having the ability to put on schedule but adjust from my phone if things change. It was easy to set up and works most of the time. There are times it will not tell me outside temperature and it doesn't have a sensor outside so it is from a weather app I am sure. So not sure if it is the Honeywell app or the weather app that is not working. The display is clear and it is easy to understand and get set.
I would recommend this to a friend!
