It was nice when it worked

This thermostat came installed in my new construction home. I connected it to my wifi and it had been working great with no drop-outs in wifi connection. I never had a good experience with the geo-fencing feature on a previous Lyric T5, so I never bothered enabling it on my T6. Less than 2 years after this thermostat was installed it failed. The thermostat will no longer call for heat. Honeywell will not warranty this product unless I go through the installer. Problem is, I have no idea who installed the thermostat because it came with my new construction home. For this reason alone, I will not recommend this thermostat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not "smart"

We had this thermostat installed by a pro when we had to replace our furnace and AC unit. I questioned it, but he assured me it was better than a Nest (which I had in our previous home). It is 100% worse than anything! The app is trash and I have to re-sign in every single time, it has never learned my lifestyle... I put the heat down to 60 every night and up to 66 when I wake up and I have to do it manually every single time. It is so frustrating. It actually made me feel so much better reading all of these reviews that are struggling with the same things! I'm not alone in my misery. Is there some kickback the pros get by installing these? That should end! It would be worth my money to just buy another brand and live my life happily.

Worthless

My HVAC company installed this thermostat (T6 Pro Z-Wave) but did not set up the wifi. As with most wifi home devices, almost any home user should be able to set this up. Well, I'm an IT person for many years and as soon as I started the setup I realized how poorly made this unit's software interface is. Just setting up the schedule, mode, and time takes way too many steps and way too much time. But the most horrible part is trying to set up the wifi to the mobile app. The steps and videos from Honeywell do not match what the unit does and my unit refused to connect to my home network of 2.4 Ghz. I called my installer and demanded that they give me any other brand thermostat other than Honeywell. I never want to deal with anything Honeywell after (yes) only this one bad experience, but it was so bad that it leaves a horrible memory. I suggest HW to stick to making push-button and slide button basic thermostats and leave the modern software units to others.

This is a basic programmable set back thermostat. Cooling periods cannot be set differently than the heating periods. Both share the same start and stop times. This does not help accommodate Time Based electric rates. Instructions state a max of 6 time periods when in fact there are only 4. 6 periods would help with setting cooling periods around electric rates when the heating and cooling periods cannot be different. Occasionally drops WiFi. Sometime app shows unit offline when thermostat shows connected.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Clear People From The Room Before Setup

If your lucky the setup will go well, if not you'll probably want to rip the thermostat off the wall and throw it at someone. The setup is probably the single factor that determines if people will leave a 1 or 5 star review. While I did eventually get mine to work, there was nothing great about the product to make me want to give it more than 1 star.
The phone app is horrible for setting up the thermostat and there's no other way to do it with this model. You should be able to setup the wifi using the thermostat and control it with a laptop, tablet, or phone but you can't; you're stuck with the phone app. I ended up in an endless loop of adding the thermostat only to see that it was not added. The thermostats (I was blessed with two of these) were installed in my new home so it was looking like I'd need to use the physical buttons. After hours of trying to add the thermostat in the mobile app I came across a comment that the setup didn't work on all phones. I had an old phone (about 4+ years old) around so I charged it, installed the app and was able to add the thermostat, SMH. Fortunately, once added I could use the app on my current phone.
Now I've got the app, so what can i do? Basically, the same things that the old programmable thermostats did. I don't use the geo-fence so other only thing I do is occasionally adjust or check the temperature without getting up. As with most "smart" devices, the product is only as good as the software that runs it and this software really doesn't make my thermostat any smarter. The basic features were working well until the app started to repeatedly prompted me to set up the thermostat again. I didn't want to do that because I'd need to charge my old phone again. I just lived with that for about 2-3 months, then it stopped as mysteriously as it started.
I'm left questioning if most people really need a "smart" thermostat, especially this one.

Cloud connection error

Decent basic touch screen

Easy to work with. I also like the app only downfall is the geofencing we had to stop using it because when my husband signed up with the app and he would leave but i was home it would change to away mode and even after uninstalling my app and redoing everything it would still go to away mode while i was home.
I would recommend this to a friend!

To be fair, I installed this myself (not professional), and there are setup questions regarding the HVAC system that a layperson likely won't know, so it would be faster for a pro to do it. But in the end, I completed the setup. After that, it's working perfectly. I set up the heating/cooling daily schedule with no problem, and most importantly, it's operating the system like it's supposed to. I appreciate being able to operate the thermostat from my phone anywhere at any time. Connectivity has been spot on and I'm looking forward to reduced utility bills.
I would recommend this to a friend!
