Worst Smart Device Ever

I have had this device several years and I just can't afford to replace it right now. It won't stay connected to the app, and in fact for the past 3 months it will not connect to the app at all. I wanted a smart thermostat for the remote capabilities. I am constantly running back and forth to adjust and readjust it as it does what it wants. I don't use this word often but I HATE this device and will never purchase anything else with the Honeywell name associated with it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

IT SUCKS!!

It never stays connected to the wifi and it’s 12 inches away from the wifi box, router and all that stuff. It never stays connected to the app. I’ve reset the wifi so many times and it never works!!! I’ve followed the step online! It doesn’t work!!!!

This thermostat was installed by the HVAC tech seven months ago when I purchased a new furnace and AC unit. I've seen some of the negative reviews here, but since I've had the opposite experience, I decided to leave a review that states how carefree and easy this thermostat has been for me. The app and the thermostat interface are easy to navigate, I've had no problems with WIFI connections, I set a schedule and then forgot about it. I like how I can check the house temp remotely and can bump the temp up or down before I get home from a vacation. I'd sum up this review by saying that the thermostat is on a schedule, it sticks to it, and I can forget about it; simple but effective.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Difficult to setup, poor connectivity, features

I bought this for a rental unit, so I can monitor the temperature settings and operation.
As other reviews have stated, it is bizarrely complex to add to a WIFI network, and it drops connectivity several times a day. Honeywell says you can set alert notifications, but I have no such menu option. And I assumed you could lock the temperature down to a range (say 68-78 degrees) like my home thermostat can, but there is no option for that, either.

On page 9 you'll find steps on how to get into the installation menu and change the max and min ranges in function 429-432. We would be happy to walk you through turning on the notifications as well. Were it so easy..

I had this abomination installed professionally along with an complete replacement of my homes HVAC system. To say setting it up on my wifi network was difficult would be an understatement. Landing on the moon was difficult, this...this setup required the blessing of Oden to complete. The app used to set it up was obviously cobbled together with old code from a someones archives. Archives which were never intended to ever see the light of day. Woe to those who would dare to install this thermostat! Be warned now, three fingers of your preferred whiskey will be required to calm down after the never ending aborted connection efforts. I would only recommend this disaster of a thermostat and its related app to my worst enemy, and even then I would feel pity for them.

An absolute BEAR to set up, but works.

First of all, If you're trying to use your 5ghz connection to your wi-fi you can forget it, the thermostat can only join a 2.4ghz network. Lock your phone down to the 2.4ghz network for this install (reconnect automatically). The wi-fi installation of this device is NUANCED to put it mildly. The gyrations of connecting to the local wi-fi generated by the thermostat, then turning OFF your internet by going into airplane mode, then turning the internet back ON because the Honeywell Home app demands it is frustrating. At one point it said "connect to the thermostats network" and presented me with only the wireless network options, I was already connected so I hit BACK--well, there's no escape, I LITERALLY had to go in and REselect the Thermostat network for the app to realize it was connected. It was a lot of trial and error but eventually I got it connected to my 2.4ghz network, then managed to push forward to get it to register so it would have the weather, etc. I think 5ghz is common enough now that this is going to be a big issue w/people attempting to configure wi-fi themselves.

Terrible Wi-Fi App

Had this installed with our HVAC system yesterday. I am in IT and have installed tons of wireless devices and apps. This is the worst experience I've ever had. Have made multiple attempts. Followed the support instructions. Thermostat says it's connected. Has an IP address. App just sits there doing nothing and gives no indication of the thermostat being joined. My only options are to cancel. The thermostat seems okay from a manually controlled perspective. Wish I purchased an Ecobee like I originally intended. Still may do that. DON'T get this thermostat for if you want Wi-Fi capability.

Doesn’t run schedule

This got put in by my installer. I try to run a schedule, so when it’s cold- the heat goes on, when it’s hot- the AC runs. Make sense? It says schedule running, and below 68 the heat should come on. It drops below that and heat doesn’t run. I have to take it off schedule and just turn it on heat. And then do the same thing to switch back to AC (I live in Texas so I’ll run both in the same month). It sucks.
