Thermostat works fine, WiFi setup is difficult

When my 91-year-old father in-law's HVAC system was replaced we requested a thermostat that we could control remotely via WiFi. The installers didn't connect it to WiFi, so I took it on. I have fairly broad experience connecting devices that offer remote control via a home's wifi network but the T6 and its Resideo app were difficult, especially compared to an ecobee. However, once setup it works great - all we want to do is be able to adjust the temperature and have it notify us when to change the filter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am embarrassed to admit this is my second go around with this model and will be my second time to use one — as a target at the range. That’s about all it’s worth. I am once again sitting in the heat (103-105 degrees outside) on a holiday weekend, so at least 3 days of waiting before even a hope of getting a service call. There is no battery to be changed (although online trouble shooting indicates that is the best solution.) The first one we had, the technician laughed about that. Said it was a factory flaw, and installed a new thermostat, though unfortunately the same brand and model. So now, here goes ROUND TWO! So my call to the repair guy will include a request that neither this model or brand will be installed in my home again. DONE!

Hi, we are sorry to hear about this. If your thermostat has a blank display, we recommend you having the installer checking the AC voltage that the thermostat is receiving from the HVAC system. This model has 5 years of warranty through the installer. Trash on the wall

This thermostat, in my opinion, is garbage. If I could get a new one, I would. Doesn’t stay connected to my phone, and now, i can’t get it reinstalled on the phone because it’s already registered. I got a new phone and i changed the password and tried to reinstall it. It was a pain to get it connected the first time. I’m just really over this thermostat right now. I have NO idea how or what I should do to get it reconnected to my phone. Shows me the weather but that’s all I can do with the app. My old thermostat didn’t give me this much headache.

If your thermostat was already registered, you will just have to log into the app using the same account that you used to register it. We can help you verifying if you are using the correct account and/or if you have multiple locations and you are looking at an empty one. Resiedo App doesn't communicate T6 thermostat

For two years T6 has been communicating with Resideo App. Now the two no longer communicate. This has been tested on two different networks. Honeywell provides no means to send electronic communications (i.e., e-mail) to support. I would not recommend this company's products.

I must have a lucky thermastat

I am not an easy customer. I expect whatever I buy to work according to expectations. Usually, I have to replace these types of gadgets. However, so far so good. We have many of these thermostats throughout the estate and each has functioned well as expected. Now that I have written a good review, stay tuned as I expect each to stop working any day now knowing my luck.

2nd thermostat to be replaced in less than 5 years. Definitely wish I had a different unit. At least they are under warranty.

Mine stop working the first week I had it! Had to call installation to get it going.Hope this is a one off but reading other reviews it doesn't seem that's the case

Stopped working

I recently had a new HVAC system installed last year. Just today the screen went completely blank and the system has shut off. Not the easiest to use either.
