Hard to stabilize temperature. It seems to take the outside temperature into consideration instead of the indoor temperature so hard to keep the house at a certain temperature especially when the seasons are changing.
Nice unit. Replaced our previous Honeywell unit. Only thing don't like is it does NOT show the humidity in the home. In Florida, that is important metric. Our previous one did but when replacing AC, they did not retain it sadly.
There is no “auto” setting for heating and cooling. You need to manually select if you want to heat or if you want to cool. Too much time sent spent figuring out when to heat and when to cool for each.
Chose this item having had previous experience with Honeywell. While comfortable with the installation procedures it seemed wish to have the Pros do it. Also a good choice.
The thermostat works perfectly well as a wall thermostat. It allows our local electric utility to regulate our set temperatures for power saving during times of high demand, which is a desired feature for us. However, as retiree, I found the complexity of setting up temperature regulation for time periods that don't correspond to our very flexible daily schedule more than I wanted to attempt. It's easy to just manually adjust the temperature(s) desired on an ad hoc basis. We use "hot-spot" wi-fi/internet access. The need for a 2.4 GHz wi-fi signal was met by using an available "guest" logon configured on our MiFi for that frequency. I think it would be helpful if the process for changing the wi-fi connection was more simple if for some reason the primary wi-fi signal became unavailable. At this point I cannot comment on using the app for remote access to the thermostat, as my general preference for my phone is to not enable location access unless I am using a map/travel app..
