Very capable thermostat, but a bit complicated

This thermostat is very capable and reliable. However, in order to achieve both of those qualities it can be a little complicated. Fortunately I am very comfortable with computers, so I was able to slog through it OK. But I can imagine that some people (especially older seniors) might struggle a bit to use some of the more advanced features. And if you don't use those (e.g., Auto-Change, Scheduled settings), then using it in a place like AZ, can require raising/lowering the temperature a lot of times during a typical day. Another example is Wi-Fi. Unless you are familiar with setting up Wi-Fi-capable devices in general (fortunately I am), it can be a bit tricky to get through the setup. Once you get through it, it's a great feature if, for instance, your bedroom is some distance from the thermostat. Of course, you can hire someone to help, but that can be an expensive nuisance -- especially if the power goes out now and then.

Instructions to make the stat automatically shut down the heat pump in cold temperatures are rather technical and a bit daunting fir a home owner. The installer would have to set it up.

Very disappointed with this thermostat. It does not show the outside temperature. It does not show whether the heat pump or furnace is running. Does not give any information regarding the operation of the fan. Cheap.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thermostat can't read outside temp even though it knows what it is to switch to emergency heat (<35°). That being said, I can't see the outside tempurature on my phone which I could see on my old thermostat.
