not possible to program to keep temp stable. One must change mode to heat or cool. IN florida winters, one may need heat at night and cool in the day which requires I switch the mode. Most thermostats will do this automatically.
Replaced a Gen 3 Nest Learning Thermostat that was 6 months old. Software issues that could not be fixed… While the T6 Pro is easy to use and set up, the construction quality leaves a bit to be desired. Doesn’t fit flush to the wall and the old out of date LCD screen needs to be updated with newer technology. I do like the Resideo App. Could use a delay function for turning on AC / Heater so as not to put additional stress on external AC unit / fan.
Can only be set to heating or cooling (or neither) but not both or auto! So for example, if one day you need it to heat, you need to manually set it to heat, and if the next day you need it to cool, it needs to manually be set to cool. Does not automatically switch between the two.
We needed a way to better control the temperature in our new home. Since moving here to Texas, we’re not really use to having high 10 or more ceilings that traps the heat up top. In the winter time when the temperature is below freezing outside it takes a long time to actual feel warm and comfortable in the home. Our new home came with a Heat-Pump system designed or built by LENNOX and we’re not really a huge fan of having a heat-pump either. In my experience too many things have gone wrong having them.
Anyway, I decide to purchase the Honeywell T6 Wi-Fi model in hopes of the convenience of controlling the home temperature better when we’re away or at home. The builder did an excellent job in having the same wiring already in-place as well as the same power backplate that is similar to the T-6 Wi-Fi model here. The instructions that comes with the device isn’t that helpful in determining how to setup the thermostat. The display is nice and easy to setup until after you get past the wireless wi-fi settings, after that it goes downhill from there. Depending how your home is wired may consist of having you contact the A/C company that installed you unit. Service instruction manual that comes with the device isn’t that helpful. As consumers of various products… who knows how many stages are on the air handler or furnace, or if the unit is a heat pump or a regular A/C that has 240 volt or 208 volts? These are some of the questions the T-6 Wi-Fi thermostat setup menu asked when setting the initial system up. Back in the box it went to deal with another day in hopes of catching the A/C technicians when they were in the area. Anyway, several weeks later after arriving home from work a A/C tech was next door working on a new home. After waiting patiently outside, I asked the young fellow for some help with the same questions that the thermostat had posed to me some weeks ago. The young technician offer to explain how and what was need to set the system online only if I still had the instructions that came with the device. After fetching the manual or instructions, he began translating and underling everything I need in order to get the programming correct based on this model. He marked and underlined what was what I needed based on the A/C unit that he installed in our home while it was being built last summer. All I can say is, very helpful and polite with a genuine concern from helping people. It’s not every day you find individuals willing to help out consumers or customers needing some assistance. I would disclose the name of the A/C company here in Texas but refrain cause I don’t want to get the tech in any type of trouble for helping us out. Sometimes its better to seek out the A/C company that installs the unit to get an idea of how-to setup the device correctly and assist with translating the instructions before ruining the device. All I can say is that it works so far!!
