The app is not user friendly compared to the American Standard app. It is a complicated task to get “auto” set. It just wants to be either heat or cool. Have to go into system settings to find auto.
This thermostat has a mind of it's own. Every now and then it reverts back to the factory setting. It does this randomly so it has to be constantly monitored which is very annoying.
The wall-mounted thermostat doesn't let you view your options, but instead, immediately starts changing them when you push the "Mode" or "Fan" buttons. I'd rather be able to see what my options are, select, and confirm, rather than it immediately cycling thru them.
The wi-fi phone app is where most of the potential improvements lie. For the schedule, I should have complete control. I shouldn't be stuck with 4 "times" per day. I should be able to have 1, 2, 10, or however many I want. The scheduling feature really left my less than impressed with my investment in this thermostat. I thought I'd be able to write complex schedules. I circulate the heat from my wood stove, and the only way to do this efficiently is with the fan on full-time. The "Circulate" feature should implement temperatures, so it'd kick on at your specified "Low" and off at your specified "High". During the night when the stove burns out, the heater could then kick back on. Instead, the fan kicks on/off about every 15 minutes on Circulate mode, and in 15 minutes, the room cools off enough to lower the tstat, which needlessly kicks the heater on.
I would also like to see an automatic shut-off feature that I could set the temperature for, so that when outside temps get below 15°, the heater would automatically shut off and my propane heater would take over. It's extremely tedious switching back and forth every day when high's are in 30's and lows in single digits.
We love it! Super convenient to access it by phone.

I installed this in my home in April 2019 to replace a 20yr old thermostat for my heat pump. I has been working fine since and the only issue I have with it is I purchased the external temp sensor, and you don't get any display of the external temp and I have no idea if it's still working correctly. To test it you have to disconnect it and check the ohms. Would be nice if it actually displayed the outdoor temp. I have had no problem connecting it to the 2.4g band on my Wi-Fi 6 router and have it linked to my Alexa. So far it has been working fine and I like the monthly usage reports from Honeywell comparing my usage to last year.
