Good way to assure inside function and temperature while seeing external weather. Also able to either get place cooled/heated before getting home or after leaving. Great control!
The Honeywell answer for the nest falls short in terms of display, functionality, programming, and ease of use. We had a direct comparison as in our former house (of about the same size) we also had 2 systems and I retrofitted 2 Nest thermostats. Our HVAC contractor recommended the Honeywell for our dual Trane furnace/air conditioning systems vice the Nest, so we decided to try them out. Display: Lack of a color display is not that big of a deal, but getting to the different menus or checking on the WiFi setup is very clunky on the Honeywell. Functionality: Already, the Resideo app and thermostat function are a step below what neat offers- for example, the usage is only displayed by day (not breaking down by what times that day) and is not instantaneous- it takes at least a full day to ‘download’. Programming- so far just adding the thermostat to a network and setting up a schedule for cooling and heating was not as easy nor capable of a learning or energy savings option. Ease of use- the backlight function and how the thermostat displays the temps again seems clunky and dated. Overall the Honeywell/Resideo combination isn’t a bad setup, but compared to the Nest it falls short.
