It is now user friendly! It is too easy to hit the cool selection when pulling up the heat. Programming is too time-consuming. You can't easily set just a wake-up and go to sleep schedule without having to set all the leave and come home settings. Nothing is explained about the locked screen (what it's for or why/when you would use it), When leaving the Menu using the back button, it goes down to the cool setting. It is too touchy and complicated for the elderly, and I actually hate it!

I have a two zone dual fuel system. Heat pump and gas heat. This thermostat will not control the second zone (had to install two thermostats) and have to be careful about setting mode the same (heat heat not heat cool) its a pain during the weather changes. The thermostat only has four settings per day. The stair step effect of heat settings for example in the AM cause the heat to come full on suddenly. There is no transition from cool to heat. Not a very smart thermostat as advertised. The Residio ap is just basic.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When setting it up it is a little difficult but if you are patient it connects and works great! I love the code feature, it keeps my daughter from turning up the heat to 80!
