I love the thermostat! It was very tricky to set up because I have an iPhone. But follow the steps correctly and it’ll connect with no problem. I love the convenience of modifying my thermostat from my phone.
The thermostat operation is fine and the programing is easy but the filter timer is useless. It keeps track of days not runtime. Filters in the off months don't need to be changed as often as in the peek months.
The thermostat itself looks and performs well. Unfortunately, I and others purchase a smart thermostat for its "smart" aspects, and here Honeywell is failing. I purchased the T6 for the Geofencing feature and that requires an app that resides on your smart phone. At some point in the recent past, Honeywell stopped developing and marketing the app. Consumers now are told to download the RESIDEO app, and it is a piece of flotsam. I don't know if Resideo is wholly owned by Honeywell or is simply a marketing term, but their app needs to be redesigned.
If the app worked, I could overlook the unnecessary weather display and the prominent "+" to allow you to add a 2nd and 3rd thermostat that should be buried in a settings dropdown. Unfortunately, the app doesn't work reliably. Geofencing frequently fails. (1) I am sitting at home and notice it is warm only to find that the app has told the thermostat that I am "Away". Wait a minute, I and my phone haven't left anytime in the previous 18 hours! (2) Come back into the Geofencing radius and the system doesn't switch to "Home." Standing in front of the thermostat, phone in hand, and it obstinately remains in "Away" mode. (3) Every time you open the app's thermostat, it wants to rerun the welcome to your new device routine. The app doesn't successfully save the information, yet when you elect to skip the routine, your previous schedule is there. Honeywell support advises to empty your app cache and data. Once you sign back in, the app works for about 48 hours before it starts offering to rerun the welcome routine. Honewelly support suspects the problem is my phone. Please! Flagship Samsung model new within the year. The problem is your app.
This product does everything I need it to. I can check the inside temp from my phone anywhere, then if I decide to I can turn on my A/C. It was easy to set up and the customer service personnel were professional and helpful.
Solid Performance but Different from T4 Thermostat

Works well and easily connected to wifi and has stayed connected with wifi. T6 snapped onto the T4 base so there was no need to change out the T4 base, making installation super easy. The T6 thermostat is operationally different from the T4 in that it doesn’t have a backup battery and gets all its power through the heating/cooling system. If the heating/cooling system automatically shuts down (e.g. A/C drain backed up) the T6 stops displaying data and has a blank screen. Once system is repaired/restarted and power to thermostat is restored, the T6 displays data again. This is not a big issue, but it is different from the T4 that continued to display data using battery power even when heating/cooling system automatically shuts off. When T6 stops displaying data, you know the heating/cooling system automatically shut down and is not functioning properly. The Residio app has also worked well.
Rough first three weeks. I had to setup the schedule a half dozen times. It kept wiping out for some reason. Fine now for two days. New record so I am hopeful!
