Well, It is not an 8000 series Thermostat. In my opinion, the vision Pro 8000 was the best: user friendly, intuitive, dependable, AND displayed the outdoor temp when used with a sensor....Genius! Sure, the T6 allows me to use local weather from the internet instead if the input from an outdoor sensor (which is useful since after two seperate sensors, both of which tested within acceptable specs, produced an error code and I refuse to purchase and install a third one before they would pursue warranty for me), and sure, I can program it from my phone, but I could remove the old one and diagnose, or program it sitting on the couch because it had batteries! Over all I would say, "the old [one] is better." That said, it does turn the furnace and the AC on and off.
