What a horrible thermostat! There is no way to set it to automatically turn on the AC when it gets to a certain high temperature and the heater when it hits a certain low remperature. I could do this with older thermostats that have less technology. The AC blows hard at will and when I'm not even in the room, cooling the master bedroom for no reason, like the thermostat is possessed. It is not easy to just turn off. It was installed in my new house and I would replace it if I could. Alexa can partially control the main thermostat in my house but not the one in our master bedroom. Why?
We have programed a "schedule" over and over again to shut the AC off at 3 -7pm, and yet the AC still kicks on during those high peak hours . We miss the ease of the Nest thermostats we had in our previous home, and are going to look into getting them installed at our new "smart" home -- which isn't smart at all.
I have a dual fuel gas furnace and heatpump with air conditioning. And this thermostat does a good job coordinating all the functions. It contains many features for integrating different kinds of equipment. And I particularly like being able to use my local average temperature on the internet to decide when to stop using the headpump and begin using the gas furnace. I currently use 40 degrees as the crossover point. But for all the great functions, I think they missed something very important. Since it uses the internet, then the display should show me the current internet outside temperature. And it should show which unit (Gas or heatpump) is currently selected for the next heat event. I can only assume it's working.
I plan to add an outside temperature sensor to my dual dual system and I hope this thermostat will show the outside temp from the sensor. It should ! And if it does then why doesn't it show the internet outside temp?
