It has Wi-Fi capabilities and an app that should allow you to control the thermostat from your phone. Unfortunately, mine CANNOT stay connected to the internet. I have connected it a dozen times, but it always loses Wi-Fi connection after a couple of hours (or less) making this function effectively useless.
I have tried to reach out to customer support for help, but they have been exceptionally difficult to reach.
On the plus side, the thermostat has programmable settings for various times and days that are really handy - it is highly manipulable and can be conformed to any schedule.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Frustrating to use. Keeps signing out of my WiFi, and then it reverts to its default temps. I bought an ecobee and that one is super easy to use/program. I’m not happy with this unit. It’s pretty on the wall and looks good but functionality and the GUI are confusing and frustrating.
My initial setup seemed ok... then about a week later I noticed that it was not connected to my phone and the downstairs was freezing. I went through the setup again, it was fine for a couple days and then... lather rinse repeat.
Some days I just get an error. I can’t finish the setup. Totally frustrating.

My main issue with this thermostat is how is communicates with a home automation device like Alexa. When you change the temperature using a home automation device you have to tell it at what time you want the hold to expire otherwise it will permanently hold that temperature. Other smart thermostats ive experienced will change at the next scheduled change.
