I bought this to use as tape when making my own boxes. I needed something stronger than standard clear packing tape as a custom cut box has difficulty staying the folded shape it needs to be. Using a wetted sponge preparing this for adhesion is trivial. Once applied and given some time to set the bond is so strong that attempting to remove it results in the underlying cardboard layers separating rather than the glue separating. Exactly what I was looking for. It's also wide enough I don't need more than one strip per seam.

I found this packaging tape very easy to use. I moistened it with a damp wash cloth and wrapped it strip by strip around the package. Very easy and the package arrived safely!

This tape must be moistened to use which is a tiny strike against it. But that is balanced by the fact that it's much stronger than cellophane package tape does not rip and is less expensive. Highly recommended.
Gummed Paper Packaging Tape Is Far From Obsolete. In fact it is vital in certain mailing applications such as registered mail. Staples Gummed Paper Packaging Tape meets some vital needs. However it is getting harder to find lately. Consider storing at least one roll at home to have it in reserve.

USPS requires paper tape on some types of intern'l. shipping services. Water is best applied with a wide sponge to cover the edge. Messy but has excellent adhesion.
