If you want a paper based tape yes you have to wet this tape. But this is very flexible and reasonable to work with. I wanted something to seal the back side of picture frames and this works fine

Gummed Paper Packaging Tape Is Far From Obsolete. In fact it is vital in certain mailing applications such as registered mail. Staples Gummed Paper Packaging Tape meets some vital needs.However it is getting harder to find lately. Consider storing at least one roll at home to have it in reserve.

Using this tape is little better than trying to tape a box closed with wet paper towels. Unless it's audio or video tape you're talking about you expect tape to actually adhere to a surface and stay where you put it. This does neither.

I like the tape very much it is better than the clear tape It is quicker to seal up my package than the clear tape…. no more fighting with the clear tape sticking to the tape roll. Have nothing bad to say about the paper tape .
