Awful new scent

The new scent is AWFUL!! Why change something that has worked and obviously has been popular. I have been using Dawn for as long as I can remember for its effectiveness and mild scent. Goodbye Dawn. I’ll need to find another brand of dish soap.

HORRIBLE SMELL!!

I just bought a big bottle to refill my small bottles and it smells horrible. Why on earth would they make dish soap smell like overpowering, flowery dollar store cologne? It doesn’t say anything on the front of the bottle about a new sent which means I will be switching brands. And that’s a shame because I’ve never used anything other than Dawn before. Zero stars!

We do put a lot of thought into creating features that we think you'll like, though we understand that preferences can vary from person to person. We'd also like to mention that this scent change took place in February 2024. We did callout the new scent on the packaging when it first launched, and this artwork was removed in October 2024. We suggest giving another Dawn version a try if you'd prefer a different scent, and you may be interested in giving our Dawn Free & Clear a try, as it features our lightest scent. New scent is terrible. I've always preferred plain Dawn because it didn't have an unnecessarily perfumey smell but now it's the same as everything else and there's no reason to stick with the brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The new scent is nauseating!! Not only is the smell awful but it lingers on the dishes. It makes my dishes smell like I washed them in cheap body wash. Why take something as beloved and classic as dawn dish soap and turn it into something completely unusable?? I will no longer be purchasing Dawn products and this feels like a huge loss.

This is the first scent change for Dawn Original in over 10 years, but please be assured that we value your feedback greatly and are sharing it with the rest of our Dawn Team. Consumer feedback is vital in helping us improve our products and ensuring that we deliver the best possible experience to our consumers; it’s also instrumental in guiding the Dawn Team as they continue to work on future innovations. In regard to the scent lingering on your dishes, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. We hope this was helpful, but we'd like to learn more about your experience, try to make things right, and tell you more about our Dawn Free & Clear version that offers our lightest scent. Bad scent

I have a fragrance allergy and cannot use this new scent. I had been more than happy with the original scent for the last 20 years. Very sad for the change. Wish companies would think about us customers that have allergies.
