DO NOT buy if you have respiratory conditions.

The new scent is the worst. if you have any respiratory issues, do NOT buy this product. You risk going into a respiratory event from the scent. It is NOT the original scent. It is NOT pleasant. It is NOT well marked on the bottle, and the new bottles aren't marked at all warning of the addition of a dangerous fragrance. To those of you who have been loyal customers of Dawn for decades, that's just too bad. P&G doesn't seem to be too concerned about risking your health, or even your opinions over it.

New "fresh scent" smells awful

This soap has been used in my house for over 40 years. The new scent is disgusting and smells like perfume. I can't believe I'm going to have to find a new dish soap. I wish these large corporations would leave well enough alone. It's getting old

Horrible new scent made me break out in hives and

I can never buy Dawn again, that new fresh scent has made me break out in hives, and I had to use my rescue inhaler, because it’s simultaneously caused an asthma attack! Once I was able to breathe again, I’m immediately leaving this review. Maybe I might try your fresh and clean unscented lightly scented type, but if it’s more expensive, I’m not buying it. Ugh, waste of money I had to throw out an entire huge bottle! Dawn was the best until you did this, now I’ve got go to a different brand. Whatever you do, don’t use it on animals that you’re going to rescue because this is going to hurt them, hopefully there’s not an oil spill that is needed.

Additionally, all Dawn products, including its perfumes, are extensively evaluated for safety and are safe for use as directed. This includes the use of Dawn for emergency first-aid intervention by trained professionals in accidental exposures of animals – including accidental oil contamination of marine wildlife. Dawn is a very effective agent for the removal of oil contamination from fur/feathers, and this emergency intervention by trained personnel is a well-recognized and beneficial medical intervention. New Scent is Pungent & Unacceptable for Migraines

We recently purchased the New Scent of the Original Dawn Dish soap, and wanted to share our dissatisfied experience. Not noticing the initial text mentioning the new scent, we immediately noticed the scent when we first used it. The new scent is too potent, like a sickly floral smell that lingers much too long. The previous iteration of Dawn Original was a migraine safe product for our household and those of our family and friends, but is no longer a viable cleaning solution that can be used in our home without negatively impacting our comfort and wellbeing.
We recently purchased the New Scent of the Original Dawn Dish soap, and wanted to share our dissatisfied experience. Not noticing the initial text mentioning the new scent, we immediately noticed the scent when we first used it. The new scent is too potent, like a sickly floral smell that lingers much too long. The previous iteration of Dawn Original was a migraine safe product for our household and those of our family and friends, but is no longer a viable cleaning solution that can be used in our home without negatively impacting our comfort and wellbeing.
Until the previous iteration or some other change is made, we will be taking our business to an alternative solution. If you are not familiar with the migraine community, it is a demographic worth investigating as your products have been known as safe and acceptable for many decades until now.

Wish I could give it ZERO stars. The new clean scent smells horrendous I can barely get through a sink full of dishes without wanting to vomit. Thanks for ruining a good thing aka the previous scent!!!!!!!!

Not a fan of the new scent

Hate the new scent, it overwhelming makes dishes smell like u dump a bottle of perfume on them, ruins the smell of your meal when go to eat off your plates or drink from a glasses. It would be good for just hand soap or maybe shampoo lol ect

Unbearable

The new scents are being created by AI (artificial intelligence). here is the address of one website. https://www.moodify.ai/1141-2/. I mourned the 1990's Gain fragrance. But now they have ruined all products! The scents are too sweet, too strong, and make me nausous. Even Always pads stink. They smell like coconut. It is so strong that anyone near you will be able to smell your pad. How ridiculous! And I agree, there is no way to eliminate the stink of Dawn from your hands or dishes. If it ever used again to try to save wildlife, I am sure the canary (or duck) will gag and die. On the plus side, P&G says they have removed toxic chemicals from the fragrances. I would prefer no scent to the disgusting "new" scents.

Additionally, when we design our products, we do extensive research and consumer testing to create features that we think you will love. We know that scent preferences can vary from person to person, though, so we appreciate your taking the time to reach out. Your health and comfort always come first, so we recommend that you discontinue the use of any products that make you feel ill. Regarding our new Dawn Original scent lingering, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience either; however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. For cleaning your hands of the scent, using a mild soap should help. We take your report seriously, and our teams would like to gather some details of your experience and share info about our Dawn Free & Clear unscented version.
