Gross smelling dawn

Noxious smell

Joining the fray. I recently finished the last of a previous (apparently original scent) Dawn and picked up a new bottle. I smelled it while washing my first set of dishes and thought "is this actually the right smell?". I finished washing the dishes and left the kitchen, returned later to get something and was aware that I smelled a sickly sweet unpleasant smell in the whole kitchen.... and went to smell the bottle - sure enough, it was the new Dawn. Why, oh why. It's most definitely some artificially created chemical with incredible staying power and pungency that Dawn chemists thought would be an improvement, but there is no fooling the nose - it's UNNATURAL. The original Dawn actually smelled clean and simple and natural, now it smells like it was modified out of petrochemicals in a lab process. This is not a matter of personal taste, this is genuinely a noxious lab-created scent not found in nature.
I always get blue Dawn because I think of it as the gold-standard that they use to clean oil spills off ducks and marine life - but I feel like this scent is going to ruin that because it will probably interfere with nature at a hormonal level not to mention whatever functions marine life needs based on scents. I see that there is an unscented version but would like the actual original scent to return. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Horrible new smell on the blue liquid. Dawn's reply to "Gabby" that she must be extra sensitive is WRONG! It is horrible!! and I will also no longer be buying this product after 40+ years.

Horrible new scent. Stays on dishes, gets in food.

I have used Dawn original for over 30 years. I do not like the new fragrance! We had to throw our rolls out because they tasted like perfume. The taste was coming from your new fragrance on our cooking tray. I will not buy Dawn anymore.

Bad Smell

The new Dawn Ultra smell belongs in the shower not over the kitchen sink. It smells like overly perfumed hair conditioner and this smell remains in plastic water bottles. I will soak the water bottle in diluted vinegar per your suggestion. Please bring back the old original scent or switch to a light orange aroma. I can't find Dawn orange scent or unscented in my local store and they hiked up the price of Dawn Platinum. I will not buy Ultra again.

What happened to the suds?

I remember when original Dawn dish soap first came on the market. It truly did create more Suds than any other soap. But not anymore! The suds don't even last through one sink full of dishes.

We appreciate you sharing this with us, and for your loyalty to Dawn. A lack of suds/bubbles does not mean the product is not cleaning your dishes. Even if there are very few suds, the solution will carry on cleaning the dishes. Using a scouring pad or washing a lot of extra greasy dishes can make the suds disappear more rapidly. If you prefer more suds, more dishwashing soap can be added to help increase the amount of suds. If you have any questions, give us a call at (800) 725-3296.

Toxic New Scent

The new scent causes my husband to have a headache and sneezing fits. I will have to throw a brand new bottle away. Please go back to the original formula! Dawn dish soap was my go to for tough stains in kids' clothing.
