The New Clean Scent is nauseating. It also gives me a terrible headache. The original scent did not mess with my asthma or give me headaches at all. The new scent does. I don't want to use the free and clear version either. I loved the original scent because it didn't cause my asthma to act up. Please consider going back to the original scent or at least making that an option. From what I can tell, about 50% of Dawn users do not care for the new clean scent!!

The new fresh scent is AWFUL

I’d give 0 stars if I could. The new scent is so horrible. I cannot use it and will no longer be buying Dawn.

Smells awful. Can't use on animals.

I've used Dawn for as long as I've been buying dish soap. I used it on dishes, grease spots, and for animals when I needed to. Now that the scent has changed, I have to find something else.
The new scent is awful. It's super strong and fruity.
My elderly neighbor asked me to wash her dog after a romp in the mud, so I grabbed the Dawn (it's what was available since I don't have dog shampoo), and he started freaking out when I used it. He's never done that before!
The smell lingers on everything no matter how much rinsing is involved. I feel silly since it's just dish soap, but I'm so disappointed!
I bought all of the bottles of the old scent I could find, and I'm down to my last one.
You should probably lose the duck on the label since the smell freaks animals out now.

Although we're proud of Dawn's role over the last 40 years, cleaning up wildlife affected by oil spills, the cleanup is complicated and performed by professionals in bird and wildlife organizations. They understand the delicate balance required to remove the contamination while increasing their chances for survival. The "new clean scent" is aweful. It smells like cheap perfume, and I don't want that on my dishes and silverware. Who thought that was a good idea? Bring back the original please!

Disgusting Smell

The new smell is disgusting. I've always use unscented dish soap for regular dishwashing, but I also buy the "blue Dawn" for the most stubborn, greasy dishes. Plus, it is the best cleaning product for LOTS of other cleaning projects. Now, I don't know what I'm going to use for those tough jobs and my house cleaning. The unscented "free and clear" soap is NOT the same as the blue stuff. Why do companies insist on adding a bunch of other chemicals that they call fragrance? UGH!!!

The new smell is an abomination. It clings to dishes, it makes food taste awful. For the first time in 50 years I need to find a new dish detergent.

Our Quality Team assures us that thorough rinsing should remove scent from all dishes. Sometimes, older dishes or certain materials, such as plastics, can carry scent longer than usual. If that's the case here, consider immediately washing these dishes, with a small amount of soap, and thoroughly rinsing. Remove any lingering fragrance by soaking the affected dishes in hot water with distilled vinegar. We'd be happy to help you give a different Dawn a try, such as our Free & Clear Fragrance Free. New scent is awful. It permeates the whole kitchen and leaves a taste.
Need to anther brand as the new scent was all they carried at Safeway.

We wouldn't expect the product to impart a scent or taste onto your dishes like this, but it may be possible if the product hasn't been completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have been worn to the point of being porous. For dishes that always pick up a scent or taste, we suggest making sure that they're rinsed immediately and not soaked. We hope this is helpful. The new scent gives me a headache and I don’t want my dishes to have a scent. Please take this away and go back to how it was before. I will not buy this again

We're sorry to hear that this has been your experience, and we hope that you're doing well. We can assure you that our Dawn Original has been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. As well, a lot of thought goes into our products, and this fragrance change was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. We also have many quality checks in place to ensure that you can use Dawn with ease, and we wouldn't expect the product scent to be imparted onto your dishes. However, if the product hasn't been completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have been worn to the point of being porous, it's possible. For dishes that seem to pick up a scent, make sure not to soak them and instead rinse them right away. We'll be sure to share your comments with the rest of our team, and we do recommend that you discontinue use of this particular product, if you haven't already. While we don't currently have plans to reintroduce our previous Dawn Original scent, we do have other Dawn versions available, and we suggest giving our Dawn Free & Clear Fragrance-Free a try.
