New scent is horrible!

We have been using Dawn dish soap exclusively for decades. It was perfect. I had heard from a friend that the scent had been changed and that she could no longer use it because it triggered her asthma and gave her a headache. Today we started a bottle with the new scent and I must echo the many reviews I see here: it’s horrible!! The smell is overwhelming, sickening, and headache-inducing. Why, why, why would you destroy a previously excellent product? The new scent is so atrociously bad, and it is so strong that our entire home smells like it from one dish-washing session. Your own product page has a huge number of similar and negative reviews, as does the wider internet. This is a serious misstep and mistake. Please do what Coke did when they introduced “new” Coke to a hugely negative reception and withdrew it and returned to the tried and true original product — bring back the regular, old Dawn. Will no longer be using Dawn and cannot recommend this product any longer.

Since safety is our top priority, we can assure you that our Dawn Original has been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. As well, we put a lot of thought into our products. This was the first scent change for our Dawn Original in over 10 years, and it was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. We'll make sure that your comments are shared with our team, and we do recommend that you discontinue use of this particular product, if you haven't already. For a lighter scent, we suggest giving our Dawn Free & Clear a try, and we also offer our Dawn Free & Clear Fragrance-Free. So that we can learn more and gather some details for our Safety Team, please give us a call at (800) 725-3296 when you have a moment. As well, please have your friend who had this experience give us a call, as we'd like to learn more about their experience.

Bring back the former scent

Love Dawn dish soap which I’ve used for over 20 years. I do not like the new scent. My best friend and I feel the same way. When they were still changing over to the new scent in stores, I bought about 10 of the old scent so I could have it as long as possible! I don’t understand Dawn’s persistence in suggesting that those who don’t like the new smell use their fragrant-free option when it seems pretty consistent that people prefer the previous product.

Horrible new scent I like why did you change it??

I bought this dish soap and I use to love the original scent now this new scent is horrible I sneeze everytime I use it also the new scent is so strong it stays on my dishes on to my food horrible scent please please change it back so I can continue to buy

While scent preferences will vary from person to person, we would never expect a scent to cause any negative reactions, and our products go through extensive testing to ensure safety with proper use. While you may have done so already, please discontinue using the product to avoid any further sensitivity. In regard to the lingering scent, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience either, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. New scent, no thanks.

I used to be a devoted user of Dawn soap. With the new change in scent I can’t bear to use it anymore. It’s pungent and gives me a headache when I’m just trying to clean dishes.

Please bring back the original scent

Dawn is my go to and always has been. Please bring back the original scent. The new "clean scent" is disappointing, does not come close to as nice as the original. The original scent was 5 stars, new one is 3 at best

What a terrible surprise with the new scent!

What a terrible surprise I had when I opened my last bottle of Dawn EZ Squeeze. The new scent is disgusting. It reminds me of my childhood and my mother would use Ivory Snow. It is a big surprise that this scent was trialed and people liked it. I immediately changed my bottle. Love this product but hated the new scent.
I would recommend this to a friend!

HORRIBLE NEW SMELL!

The new clean scent is horrific! Smells like laundry detergent and the smell lingers both on hands and dishes. My asthma is also very sensitive to chemical smells and instantly had a problem with this scent! Please dawn whatever you do don’t get rid of the original scent. This change was so unnecessary.
