New Scent is awful

The new scent is overpowering. It makes me feel sick, and lingers on my hands and dishes.
Please bring back the old scent!

Our products undergo thorough testing to ensure they're always safe for use as directed, and we do extensive research when we design product features, like scents, to make sure we're meeting the needs/preferences of our consumers. We're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with the scent of your Dawn Ultra, and that the smell made you feel sick, as this isn't the experience we want or expect you to have, and we're grateful you brought it to our attention. If you're concerned with how the product is affecting you, please discontinue use.

To remove the scent from your dishes, soak the items in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it, or if they're dishwasher safe, pour some vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher and directly into the dispenser, then run them through the machine. It may take a couple of cycles, but the smell will come out. Additionally, you can rewash your hands with mild hand soap to remove the scent.

We have a variety of scents if the Original no longer meets your needs, including an unscented version called Dawn Free and Clear, Unscented. New scent “stinks”!

The new scent that replaced original Dawn gave me an immediate headache and it has made my entire house reek!!! Plus there was NO warning on the label that anything had changed. No new and (not) improved so I could have avoided the not so fun surprise. If anyone reading this is thinking about using this, avoid it at all cost. Please change it back to the original scent or you have lost a lifelong customer!

We have many safety and quality checks in place to ensure our products are safe and bring you a great dish-cleaning experience. The scent was changed in February 2024, and it was made after receiving positive feedback from extensive consumer testing, marking the first scent update for Dawn Original in over a decade. We understand this may be disappointing for some of our loyal consumers, and we'll be sure to share your comments with our team. While we currently have the new fragrance, we are always listening to our customers, and your input could certainly influence future product offerings.
 
We hope you're feeling better, and based on your experience, we recommend discontinuing the use of the product, but please hold onto it for at least 2 weeks in case our team needs additional information.

Not a fan of the new scent

The new scent has made it near impossible for me to use it. It is so strong and gives me a headache. Then I’m unable to get it off my hands. I hope you can go back to the original scent or come out with “ Classic Dawn” for those of us that are finding it difficult to use the current Dawn.

Bring back the original scent

There is no other scent of dish soap that I love more than the original Dawn. It brings me back to going to my Aunt's Lake house. We were a Palmolive family and she always used Dawn. I can't begin to say how devastated I was the first time I did dishes and realized the scent had changed.

New scent ruins a great product

The new scent is absolutely terrible!!! I have used Blue Dawn for years and not just for dishes, it is great for cleaning and laundry stains. Due to this absolutely horrible new scent I will no longer be purchasing Dawn. Aside from getting a headache it leaves a disgusting taste on your dishes. I have no idea what your were thinking when you reuined a great product.

Our products are tested to be safe when used as directed, and your safety is our highest priority. Because the scent is causing you to experience headaches, we recommend that you discontinue use of this fragrance. We're slso sorry you're finding a taste left behind on your dishes. We wouldn't expect Dawn to impart a taste, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, this is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous, and items made of cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. For best results, we recommend that you do not soak porous items; wash immediately and rinse thoroughly. Also, you can soak any affected items in water with white vinegar added to remove any residue. Your loyalty is appreciated, and we hope you'll consider trying another version such as our Dawn Free & Clear EZ-Squeeze Fragrance-Free dish soap.
