Awful new scent

New scent is terrible. A clear case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I agree with tons of reviews; it seems crazy to change a product with decades of loyal happy customers. No one wants dishes smelling like laundry, and the new scent is terrible for allergies and those sensitive to fragrance.

I have been a long time user of dawn dish soap. There was absolutely no reason to change the scent. There are so many of us out there that are sensitive to scents. The last thing I want is to drink something and have that resounding odor in my mouth. Yes it happened and was disgusting. In a time where you need to become more eco friendly this was not it. What lasting damage will there be to add a stronger scent to drinking dish soap.

We'd like to gather some details off your bottle to share with our Safety Team and help you get a different Dawn we think you'll enjoy much better! Also, to remove the scent from your dishes, we recommend soaking them in hot water with distilled white vinegar mixed in.

The new scent is absolutely horrible. How and why would you change something that works so well. I'll be using a different brand once my supplies of the original formula run out. P&G has created its own "new coke" story. Congratulations on making history.

Just bought a new bottle of dawn a few days ago. I have been buying dawn all of my life (my dad was a commercial fisherman in Alaska during the big ExxonMobil spill in the 80s that made the duck famous and we've been loyal since) but the newly added fragrance is AWFUL. I was disappointed to find out this was a permanent change. I won't be purchasing anymore. I don't know why P&G thought anyone wanted their cereal bowls to reek of perfume especially when we all loved the original scent. This was a dumb move.

Why change when it wasn’t broke?! Disappointed!

I used to LOVE dawn! I would pick it over any other soap, because it didn’t leave things smelling like a flower or cleaning product. I recently moved and as I was getting new kitchen supplies I knew it was Dawn. However, after the first time using I knew something was different. I didn’t even notice the “new clean scent” sticker until after I’d complained to several different people that something had changed. So yeah…the new scent makes it smell too strong and now my dishes taste soapy after washing. I won’t be buying Dawn anymore.

I just got the new scent and I'm not happy the old scent was great and reminded me of my childhood the new one is too strong and made my hands itch 🙃

The 90’s called, it wants its cheap cologne back.

Life long user, and now I’m going to find a new dish soap. The scent change is terrible. It smells like teenage boys’ cologne from the 90’s. And stays on your dishes SO long. Dawn was known for being so gentle it could be used on poor little ducks who get stuck in oil spills. Now those poor ducks are going to go from one terrible smell to another terrible smell.

Consumer feedback is vital in helping us improve our products and ensuring that we deliver the best possible experience to our consumers; it’s also instrumental in guiding the Dawn Team as they continue to work on future innovations. In regard to the scent lingering, we wouldn't expect this to be your experience, however, if the soap isn't completely rinsed off, or if the dishes have become porous, it is possible. If certain items always pick up a flavor, they're probably worn to the point of being porous and should be washed by hand. It might help to know that cast iron and plastic items can absorb flavors. To remove the scent/taste, please soak the dishes in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added. We hope this was helpful, but we'd like to learn more about your experience, try to make things right, and tell you more about our Dawn Free & Clear version that offers our lightest scent.
